Picture gallery hyperlinks

I used the early mornings this weekend to try and get my head around picture galleries and how to set them up to work for my websites.

I looked at Envira and NextGEN expecting them to be more sophisticated that the Gallery feature built into Wordpress and watched the videos and read the "How to" posts and could not find what I was looking for, which was the ability to hyperlink from an image.

NextGEN could hyperlink from a Gallery but that was not what I wanted so I ended up back on wpbeginner looking for suggestions and followed a lead to the Gallery Custom Links plugin. After a bit of playing around I found that I could achieve exactly what I wanted to do plus a bit of added functionality which I will now roll out across my websites.

The moral of the story is that sometimes more sophisticated is not the right answer, check the simple solutions first !

Learning is always useful, now I know when Envira and NextGEN would be appropriate.

Hope you are well. 

I have been meaning to get in touch as I attended your course led by you a couple of years ago which was great as learnt a lot and built most of my website. 

I am not sure if you remember me but I was the one who finished writing a book for students/grads/apprentices in skills and professional development - I have since revised it and now need to compelte the website to showcase it and even sell it (avoiding Amazon route where possible as they just take too big of a cut!).  Do you still have the website address of your friend who published his book? You gave it to me but I cannot find but remember it had some good ideas. Feel free to email me direct, I would have done the same but lost your email.

Also, is there any news on when WordPress evening events will take place? Its been a while since the last one I went to but found very useful and now back to designing my book website. 

If you know of any web designers to help please feel free to pass their contact details as I am stuck with a WordPress theme Ultra (through a previous person who recommended), and because lots of work has been one on it I but cannot afford to now change the DIVI Theme (which I have paid for recently). But the other question is, is it wise to launch my book website even though I will not renew my contract with Ultra Theme for updates? Not sure if the missing updates (without the theme license) will cause an issue here?
