Hello.  Anyone please...

Looking through the list of Vaultpress features on the homepage

1) is Wordfence too overkill, superfluous etc ?

2) is Vaultpress equivalent to a WAF ?

======================

I am recommending the client signs up to Vaultpress //  they are using Jetpack already.

and this seems to imply Vaultpress is now part of Jetpack ?

thanks
Phil

Some of the things that Wordfence does are ok. Some of them do not increase security. Most of them are better done at an OS level outside of WordPress. But if you are on shared hosting then it may be a useful option.

As far as I know Vaultpress' security feature is that it scans the files on your site (possibly only WP, plugins, and themes) and will report (possibly quarantine?) issues. They can also push emergency fixes for major plugins directly on to your site if they deem it's impact big enough.

But it is not a WAF like Sucuri's service and others

It is not part of Jetpack, but can be bought as a package along with other Automattic services through Jetpack. If jetpack is installed along with vaultpress, then jetpack will move the vaultpress menu under it's own (it will do that with askismet too).

thanks
