Hi!

Does anyone know of a decent alternative to Jetpack Publicize plugin? Installing Jetpack is a bit of a nightmare nowadays as you have to explain to the client why they need to sign up to a .com account, and it sends them off the the .com account to put their social media details in with no warning that they are leaving their own site. (instead of having a settings page within their own site)

I have tried https://wordpress.org/plugins/social-networks-auto-poster-facebook-twitter-g/ before but have not found it to be that good.

Cheers,

Belinda

Hi Belinda,

Did you get any joy on this one?  I would also be interested in a viable alternative to Jetpack's Publicize.

There's a high chance an alternative will require you to create Apps in the FB dev console, something .com manages behind the scenes. From a business standpoint you want the client to have control of these rather than yourselves as it can cause logistical issues if they move away or abuse them. Having said that they're much harder to explain to clients so unless you're going to set them up for them with their details, Jetpack is probably the easiest route

Hi Sue,

There doesn't seem to be many good options apart from JetPack.

There are a couple of free WP plugins:

A few free plugins that publish to only one social network:
(there are probably more...)

A freemium option that might work well if they only want to publish to one or two networks / don't publish a lot would be to use Zappier, If this then that, or Hootsuite free plan

There are a few paid for plugins for the adventurous:

That's all I could find! If anyone else knows of another option I'd be interested to hear it!

How about something like this instead: https://www.contradodigital.com/2015/10/08/60-seconds-a-day-social-media-management-with-automation-and-technology/

Switch out the Twitter part of the logic and replace that to use the WordPress XML Feeds for the blog posts and you're good to go I would have thought :-) I've used this in the past to use the same kind of logic and automation to connect WordPress blog posts with email marketing platforms too, https://www.contradodigital.com/2016/09/22/automating-your-email-marketing-campaigns-with-wordpress-and-mailchimp/

Both of the above are such huge time savers
