Hi all,
It was decided at last weeks meeting that we would begin rocketry as part of our repertoire of activities going forward. There are lots of reasons for this, but one of the main ones was the design and fabrication element. The build meetings should have more build activity :) There is also no reason why we wouldn't be able to include electronics elements to the builds etc. as well. As we build bigger and bigger rockets, there will be an increased element of electronics needed to track the payload and lets not forget the opportunities for some cool pics and videos!
There is a UK Rocketry Association that I have become and member of and I'm also thinking of becoming a member of the British Model Flying Association too on behalf of MSP. It think it would be a good idea to develop skills and accreditation's for the different levels of build that can be attained so that we could certify our members and interested family and friends locally.
I've ordered a starter rocket for reference and done a little research for your consideration. All very exciting! :)

(this is a MUST read if we are to build and launch rockets - and it's well written too)
Interesting introduction video (British)
Awesome places to buy rockets
The Starter Rockets I bought
Same one as in the starter video above. I think we can build the launch pad ourselves and I would consider the starter motor etc. is something we could build ourselves too from the video here:
Dave Ackemans website - he builds trackers and stuff - seriously think we should contact him about rocket tracker payloads - hell, and even pico balloon stuff!
