DIYBio UK Summit 29th-30th October

DIYbio Manchester is a one-year project, supported by a grant from the Wellcome Trust, to encourage the broader public to engage with and participate in scientific research. DIYbio is a growing movement which aims to make biology accessible to citizen scientists, and the local group was set up at the start of 2011 to bring together Manchester’s professional scientists and curious amateurs. We will host representatives of the international DIYBio community, and expect an exciting and interesting discussion of both work done this year and the future direction of the movement.
Held at the Madlab, in the heart of the Northern Quarter, on October 29-30, the two-day meeting will feature talks by international speakers, demonstrations by group members, and hands-on workshop sessions, where participants can get involved in do-it-yourself bioscience. No experience is needed, as full training will be given in a safe and friendly environment.
