Hi guys,
I've been talking with Tom Robertson and he's put me in contact with Rhys Jones of the Ministry of Culture and Heritage. The ministry is working on a rather interesting First World War memorial project with Steve Jackson and Richard Taylor at Weta Workshop and the Perry twins.
They're creating a diorama of the Battle of Chunuk Bair using 4000 miniatures sculpted by the Perry twins in a 54 mm scale. The completed piece will be displayed from Anzac Day 2015 until Armistice Day 2018 in the former Dominion Museum building in Wellington. Curating the display is historian Christopher Pugsley.
Where we come in is that they need around 100 painters to do 40 or so figures each and have them completed by the end of March. The project organisers are putting together painting schemes and guides so you don't have to worry about your guys matching everyone else's. They've contacted wargames groups around the country to help out with the painting.
If you're interested in helping out, please either post here or email me. While you can discuss this on Facebook etc., please bear in mind that I'm not on Facebook and I have no intention of joining, so I won't be able to read what you've said!
NOTE: As far as I can tell, the volunteers will have to pay for the paints they use, and postage to return the completed miniatures. Personally, this doesn't bother me to be involved in such a great project and to get to paint some unique Perry sculpted miniatures.
Painting schemes are still being decided, but two have been put together so far for the Turkish troops, one using Games Workshop paints and the other Tamiya.
