Subject: IDC Event: An Evening with Christopher Lowman on Nov 12th
Dear ICA Friend,
We would like to invite you to our last India Development Circle of a year 2012 with Christopher Lowman on Monday, Nov 12, 2012. Christopher is in full-time service of humanity as a self-described, ‘community facilitator.’
At a relatively early age, he realized that happiness, security, fulfillment—those things we typically seek from outside world–are internally derived. That realization caused him to abandon the career path he was venturing out on and dive into various studies and disciplines of Truth and self-realization, that primarily included traditional approaches to medicine. Studies that particularly serve him well today when he works on development activities in poor, challenged communities, “If you understand causes and detractors of health in human body and heart, you understand the same in community.”
For the past nearly 2 years, Christopher lived in slum areas or otherwise neglected communities in India, Kenya, and Rwanda, where he developed a number of grassroots level community initiatives that primarily benefitted children—efforts that ended up impacting the lives of over 6,000 people. “I’m not in the field of fixing problems. That’s really not possible. I’m in the field of opening hearts (including my own), and through this process, you find practical, sustainable solutions happening on their own, effortlessly.”
Christopher is currently on tour in the US sharing with small groups about his work to help inspire others to paths of service, in ways small or large. He will be joining the India Development Circle to discuss his personal journey, as well as a few stories from the field to give us a feel for his so called ‘effortless’ approach to service.
Here’s a 3-minute video that summarizes Christopher’s work of the past 2 years: http://youtu.be/sice_uJ0FmE
His website: www.thelivingsmile.org.
On Nov 12, we will start at 7PM with 30 minutes of meditation; then our speaker will share some thought and we will engage in some Q&A. Following that, we will end with a dinner offering from the hosts.
To join us, please RSVP here http://icaonline.org/events/an-evening-with-christopher-lowen/. As we get closer to the date, we'll email you the logistical details.
Thanks,
Unmesh Sheth
