Hi All,

There are two presentations on which we have to work:
  1. Venture
  2. Movie
When should we meet? How about Tuesday, 10 pm?

Please think about the Movie beforehand so that we can finalise it in one sitting.

Regards
Varun

I think we should divide the work amongst ourselves with 4-5 people doing the movie and 4-5 people doing the venture Ppt.
Not beng much of a movie fan I would love to work on the project ppt.
What say people ?

I dont understand why do we need 4-5 people for the project presentation. We should have max 2 people doing it and others could work on the Movie part to ensure an equitable distribution of the workload.

Agree with Varun and Anchal. But we should discuss the main aspects of both presentations in a meeting involving everyone, in my opinion, so as to not create further confusion.

Movie Suggestion:
1. Gafla (2006): Full Movie Available online (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMDf845X4rI&feature=watch-now-button&wide=1)
GAFLA is a story about ordinary people or rather an ordinary young man, Subodh [Vinod Sharawat], in ordinary circumstances. Subodh starts out like any middle class guy, with limited opportunities to survive and go ahead. Perhaps, he has a little bit more drive than the others, more energy and bigger dreams.

Subodh's intentions are good and understandable in terms of ordinary ambitions. Subodh wants to make money, to be successful and enters the stock market. His brilliance makes him successful, but he is at the mercy of big players.

Faced with a choice of either following a secondary career, dominated by big players or becoming a big player himself, he opts for the latter. But, as an outsider, he shouldn't have become the biggest player of all. He didn't know where to stop. He didn't pause to strengthen the base of political and institutional support before rising further. He is inexperienced.

So, when things go wrong, Subodh is crucified for doing the same fraud that everybody was doing.

In essence, we can see the motivations, research and other aspects of entrepreneurial spirit. Also from the movie's perspective the politics that one has to face, the sacrifices one has to make (Dramatized though) for the bigger goals in life.

2. Rock On (Farhan Akhtar) : Movie about the band and the ups-and-down.

3. Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (Tamil) 2010: Available on youtube with english subtitles

Karthik (Silambarasan Rajendar) is a student of mechanical engineering in Chennai who aspires to become a filmmaker. His friend introduces him to cinematographer Ganesh (Ganesh Janardhanan). With Ganesh's help Karthik becomes an assistant to director K. S. Ravikumar. Karthik's family, who are HinduVellalars, rent Jessie's (Trisha Krishnan) house. Jessie is from a conservative Malayali Catholic Christian family from AlappuzhaKerala, who live upstairs. When Karthik meets Jessie for the first time, he falls in love with her. Karthik expresses his love one day to Jessie, who is afraid of speaking to men around her strict father's sight, and ends up angering Jessie. The two meet several times and Jessie begins to admit that she also likes Karthik, but wants to refrain from any problems because she knows her father won't accept a Hindu to marry his daughter. But due to various misunderstandings between Jessie's brother and Karthik, her parents learn of their affair and arrange a marriage for her. At the wedding, she refuses to marry the groom, displeasing everyone in her family. Karthik and Jessie continue to love each other without the knowledge of their parents.

At this point of time, Karthik goes to Goa on a 40-day shoot, where he gets rather busy. Meanwhile, the topic of Jessie's marriage comes up again at her home when the guy whom she refused to marry earlier pays them a visit. Panicking, Jessie calls Karthik and tells him that she wants to elope with him. Karthik, since he is traveling through less than ideal places, tells Jessie to stay in Chennai for now, and that soon he would be back and they can discuss. Jessie doesn't take his calls-so Karthik goes back one night to check on Jessie. Jessie has decided to break up, as the relationship is not peaceful due to her parents' disapproval. She doesn't want Karthik to wait for her too long, as he has his dreams to fulfill. Karthik later comes to know that she is married and settled abroad.

Two years later, Karthik meets Nandhini (Samantha Ruth Prabhu), who falls in love with him, but is rejected by Karthik who cites his previous affair with Jessie over whom he has still not got over. He then comes up with a script for his first film, which happens to be his very own love story. He calls upon Naga Chaitanya as the film's protagonist, Nandhini as the female lead and Ganesh as the film's cinematographer, and the film is eventually titled Jessie. While shooting for the film in New York, he sees Jessie and she comes to speak with him. She admits that she is not married and is still in love with him, and he too says she is still in his heart. Karthik proposes yet again and they get married the same day. This is actually revealed to be a scene in Karthik's movie- which Karthik & Jessie in real life are watching together in the theatre. In real life Jessie and Karthik have parted ways and are leading different lives.

We can see how the character develops and takes in experiences from his own life couples it with his passion, does the research and finds people own contacts.

Plus, harishchandrachi factory is a more of a comical movie. We can also consult with the prof for that matter (regarding the "Ethical hunch" for Gafla).

Hey all,

Lets take a poll to decide on the movie.

My vote goes for Gafla. Plot seems quite interesting.
