Dear All,

Warm Greetings.

Sharing an article published in The Economic Times on 03.02.2012; by TT Ram Mohan, Professor, IIM Ahmedabad, India.

Please find the same attached herewith.

The article talks about the transformation of role of American Universities from knowledge creation in the ‘80s to intellectual powerhouses with intuitive knowledge dissemination through applied research parenting with industries to drive the economic growth and prosperity.

The article is based on the book published by Elizabeth Popp Berman titled “Creating the Market University: How Academic Science Became an Economic Engine”. Elizabeth Popp Berman is Assistant Professor of sociology at the University at Albany, State University of New York.

In the article Prof. Ram Mohan states that Universities must not only provide intellectual basis for innovation rather they should be at the forefront of innovations themselves. Further he suggests three basic strategies/ways to achieve the same:

1.      Faculty Entrepreneurship

2.      Partnering with other Universities for innovation

3.      Creating Industry Research Centers

Please go through the full article.

Dr. R. N. Subudhi, Professor, QM & DS, School of Management, KIIT University had shared the article with me earlier.

I thought of sharing it with all of you adding my interpretation.

Hope and wish that you are doing great both in your personal and professional fields.

Do share your views on the topic.

HAPPY RESEARCH.

AJ
