Hi all,

Been really long time writing to this group, Last month Ravi(Gali) visited basavannapalem municipal school and spent around Rs. 2500/- for the visit. He spoke to the principal of the school and gave presents(note books) to the top 12 rankers of class VIII - X. He also anounced that we will be giving textbooks/guides to top 3 students(during quarterly) and cash prize for top 3 students of Xth standard during board exams.

He has one of his classmate working in the school as a voluntary teacher. Hence, It will not be a problem to be in contact with the school.

This will be a joint venture for our group and another group(schoolmates of ravi) and PEARL's budgetary contribution for the school will be Rs. 12500/-pa. the criteria for selection of the students will be the exams conducted at school. Also, By the end of academic year if a student(any) needs financial assistance either one of us or few of us can adopt him for the next academic year.

Will keep you posted on the updates........ Please throw your comments on this idea..... I know I did not discuss this with the group and am sorry for that But, some how I felt all our discussions have never moved out to decision stage.....

below mail(on behalf of ravi)
hi guys,
there was a small change in the implemented manner in the last minute.  i wanted to give only top 10 students.  but pricipal said, almost all r at the same marks, so its not gud to give books to only top 10 people.  so i have given 2 books every one in the class for X and IX class students.  but top 3 students got 4 books instead of 2.  after quaterly exams, guides and guometri boxes will b given only for top students as we have informed it earlier.

but all r very poor people who do work on holidays to earn money in that school.  its a small village also.  the main problem in that school is water.  they dont have water tank.  i am thinking about that also, if not through pearl.

all of u r welcome to give ur suggetions in spending pearl money in more effective manner.
end of mail
