Journalist Rudy Galetti said the Dutch coach urged the Red Devils' owners not to lose their goal to Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United have conceded three or more goals nine times this season with four of those coming at Old Trafford. That was not the defensive performance that Erik Ten Hag expected in his second season at the team.

To be fair, injuries have seriously affected this coach's desire to choose a stable back four, when last season's excellent pair of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are both having problems.

The Argentinian re-injured himself last season and had to sit out for a long time, while the French centre-back's poor form meant that Ten Hag had to be replaced with options such as Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof.

The Red Devils coach is in dire need of help from the bosses during the winter transfer window. Man United have been linked with a move for Nice 's Jean-Clair Todibo  since the summer, but the deal failed to come to fruition.

Recent reports indicate that Tottenham Hotspur have overtaken Man United in the race for the Frenchman  and have even opened discussions with the centre-back's side.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti stated on X (formerly Twitter) that Ten Hag was desperate for Todibo's signature in January:

"Ten Hag – as reported – is making a transfer move to strengthen the squad in January.  In particular, the Dutch coach has requested a new centre-back: Jean-Clair Todibo is at the top of the list . ”
