to Man utd fixtures on tv
Man Utd faced a great opportunity to recruit Frenkie de Jong after missing the Dutch midfielder last summer.
According to reports from SPORT, Barcelona plan to free Frenkie de Jong . Specifically, the Nou Camp team wants to reduce their salary or let the Dutch midfielder leave in the upcoming transfer window. According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona tried to convince De Jong to reduce his salary, and was ready to let the 25-year-old star join Man United last summer.
However, De Jong is still determined to stay at the Nou Camp. The current contract between De Jong and Barcelona will expire in 2026. De Jong's contract release clause is about 85 million euros.
According to SPORT, Barcelona will extend De Jong's contract if the 25-year-old midfielder accepts a salary reduction. Thus, the scenario of the Dutch player breaking up with the Spanish team is entirely possible.
This is clearly a positive signal for Man United . The Old Trafford team used to closely pursue De Jong in the summer of 2022. The midfielder born in 1997 had a period of time playing under the guidance of coach Erik ten Hag in the Ajax shirt.
Man United's plan to recruit De Jong has not changed. In the context of Casemiro or Christian Eriksen all turning 30, the Red Devils need to bring in young, quality midfielders.
De Jong is an ideal option. The 25-year-old midfielder promises to integrate and adapt quickly to Ten Hag's style of play and football philosophy.
