Not surprising me at all, the administration of the hospital can not make any critical decisions without vacillating between polar opposites. Yesterday, before I left it was 'we are open business as usual, nothing to see here. '
Just a while ago, both emergency ride out teams were activated, then told to wait, then told to come in later today. When asked why both teams were activated, it was 'ah, hold please.'
So, I don't know exactly what is happening, other than individuals with master's degrees and PhDs can't navigate the complexity of there is going to be some fucking ice on the road.
And yes, I could have just sent a simple, 'I am not going to be able to make it', I felt this needed venting.
Thank you for your kind and patient attention.

I would love to see some of these people deal with day to day life in the Midwest (not even Canada which was a second home for me for a while).  Yes it is cold, yes it is icy.  Don't drive like a dick and take extra time.

As of an hour ago my Amazon site is still operating as normal...you know Amazon almost never closes.
This is what they said:

"Impacted areas for precipitation have been reduced on the hwy 99 loop and out, from I-10 to I-45. The impacts are forecasted to be 0.05 to 0.1 in of ice and only to really impact highway overpasses. This is great news for the greater Houston area. Temps will drop over the course of the day today, Saturday, and reach just below freezing (30-31 degrees F) by 4 am Sunday. Rain is forecasted much of the evening Saturday and will stop around 8-9 am on Sunday. Temps will rise Sunday morning above freezing and risk for ice almost goes away after that."

I put the quote to say 0.05" to 0.1" of ice 🧊  shouldn't require all hands on deck for a hospital. So I feel your frustration.
