Basically yes everything you would want to do is possible with Ardupilot but I need to look into the mixing for the pumps a bit more. Down to 1m could require more complex hardware like RTK as normal GPS can have a tolerance of a few meters but imo I think normal GPS would be fine.
I was a massive carp angler for years and my name in many forums is Mad_Angler for this very reason. I was using and designing some of the bait boats in the early days when they really all kicked off and even used to sell them actually.
Yes Ian its an old mk1 microcat, with a few mods, I removed all the wiring ,electronics, radio gear, hopper release mech and fitted a sonar. tried all the different suppliers of gps autopilots and only 1 did the microcat, but because I've replaced everything there's wont work. Its meant to piggy back on ATs esc`s/mixer.Scan.pdfmicrocat.pdf (274.2 KB) This is the mixing/wiring to the 4 pumps see if this can help
As one of the leading manufacturers in bait boat technology for 30 years now Angling Technics have continued to push the boundaries with the boats they are providing. With a wide range of boats at varying price points, anglers have been reaching for these to aid them in their catches time and time again. The Angling Technics Microcat HD provides you with all the features from the original whilst combining new technology to make it bigger and better than ever. With alterations to the 3D CAD designed hull as well as an improved 2.4 Ghz FM 4 channel radio system, you can rest assured you are getting the best bait boat for you when out on the market.
Though the outside of the Angling Technics Microcat HD Bait Boat may look like the previous model, it is important to note that the internal elements of the HD Microcat are new and improved. Not only do the batteries provide you with two hours of run time, but the microprocessors provide a variable speed when moving forward as well as when it is in reverse. In addition, the zero maintenance motors provide you with the peace of mind that you need every time that you are out on the bank. The final major change that has come to the Angling Technics Microcat HD is the distance between the water and the hoppers. With new and improved clearance thanks to the position of the hull, you can use the bait of any type to enhance your experience and better your chances of catching a PB every time.

Craig Jones from Blue Water Fabrications has a background in marine engineering and has spent 10 years coming up with the design of the Micro Cat, and has built it and the trailer from the ground up. When I first laid eyes on the 4.4m Sidewinder Micro Cat I thought of a BBQ boat. How wrong was I! This boat is much more than that.
The Honda 40hp 4-stroke outboard had the 4.4m Sidewinder Micro Cat powering at around 50 knots on calm water with two people on board. This would be less if you had a full capacity of five adults on board or any other major equipment like a couple of motor or quad bikes. Once onboard you will realize how much floor space there is for passengers or vehicles.
As we were scooting along I took the chance to sit up front on one of the bench seats, and was amazed that was very little (a couple of drops) water came in over the front. This would be due to the 4.4m Sidewinder Micro Cat sitting slightly higher in the water at the front.
The launching and retrieving of the 4.4m Sidewinder Micro Cat was a breeze. It was just a matter of taking off the trailer lights, backing the trailer down (keeping the bearing out of the water), undoing the safety chain and slowly unwinding the strap with the winch handle.
The internal design of the webbing and struts of the boat make the sponsons extremely strong and less prone to vibration and flexing when travelling. The sponsons have been nitro filled to stop any water coming in, and this also stops any corrosion.
All in all, after testing the 4.4m Sidewinder Micro Cat, I found that the options for its use is endless. The hull is designed for both rough and smooth water applications, and can go into 30cm of water at high or slow speed. The boats represent the cutting edge of technology and fishing ability. Nothing looks like a Micro Cat, and nothing goes like a Micro Cat.

I am from the carp fishing background and have a Angling Technics Procat Mk2 bait boat which is great. Bought it with a friend 2nd hand last year and used it successfully for all of last summer (upto around 8/9 fishing trips).
The boat performed on every use last year and was put away under my mates bed with its batteries disconnected (but the handset/transmitter batteries still connected). Went to use it last week and having problems with it.
When the boat is turned on, the motors run all the time with the control sticks in the central position, when the control sticks are moved to certain positions the motors will stop or change the noise they are making (guessing caused by a slight change of direction). When the channel of the right hand control stick is changed to N rather than R, the boat responds as if the handset/transmitter isn't turned on.
Any suggestions are appreciated, although we have tried recharged/different batteries and I have crystals on order, as we are really keen to get this fixed (and try not to send it back to the manufacturer).
have you tried re calibrating the speed controller to the transmitter or is it a "auto setup" in these situations my best advice is to find the manual or download one and follow the initial setup steps and see how it is after that
Ive had the transmitter open today and half of it doesnt look to be in good shape. Alot of the components on half of the PCB were furry and looked water contaminated. I cleaned them up as best I could with a commutator brush as well as doing all other connections including battery contacts.
BUT....still no improvement. I did manage to get the boat responding to the transmitter correctly this afternoon before taking the transmitter apart, but it would not respond to left commands and only weakly to right commands. Forward and back were fine. Seems to me that something is intermittently failing/a bad connection. It started to respond to the commands when the aerial was manipulated VERY small amounts.
Thanks very much for you honest advice. If you recommend that we upgrade our handset and frequency that highly then we will. At the moment, we are in the middle of the fishing season (which was delayed by heavy rainfall in our local area) and really just need the boat up and running. I will certainly invest a bit of time and money in upgrading once the season has closed though.
I must admit that I have no knowledge or experience of bait boats, but having looked at the manufacturer's website, it seems that it does not have a rudder, but relies instead on varying the speed/direction of its twin props. This being the case, it may be the electronics in the boat that controls the motors that is playing up. It would be very unusual for a transmitter to just "pack up" in storage unless it has got wet, or something like that, previously.
I think that there is a lot to be said for calling the manufacturer as, knowing the "ins and outs" of the system, I suspect that they would be able to narrow down the problem over the phone. There may even be some manual calibration settings on the boat that they can point you to that can solve the problem.
Thanks very much for your replies and input to this topic and helping me out. I was fortunate enough to borrow a friends handset/controller which the boat responded to correctly so have ordered a new handset as well as a spare to get us back on the water again.
I cant upload anything in here it says max size 1mb even a photo wont fit in here but anyway still not pairing 2gether today i try it and when i start the bait boat and the controller it did work for like 10 sec and than it stop pairing
