Hello, I am the new treasurer of the World Association of Copepodologists (WAC).  I am writing to ask you to become a official member of the association.   Please go to our WAC website at http://www.monoculus.org/membership.html to find out how to become a member (we are presently updating this site).  The 11th International Conference on Copepods will be held in summer 2011 in Merida, Mexico.

We are asking for you to show your support for copepod community by joining the association.

Members that pay dues are a valuable resource for the association and allows us to provide financial resources to the host country to offset costs for our tri-annual conferences.   In addition, we are able to help students with waived registration fees and in some case travel, depending on our resources.  WAC also publishes a biannual newsletter full of information on copepod research and researchers.  We also maintain the Monoculus and Wilson copepod libraries.  Many website links on copepod research are also available.

I would like to ask each of you to reply to this email and let me know your interest in the Society by            responding as:

1.   you would like to be a member and choose one of the membership categories.
2.   you would like to be a member, however, you lack financial resources and would to request the Association to waive your dues for 2 years.
3.   you are not interested in copepods and do not want to be a member and would like to have your name removed from our mailing lists.

For those of you in the United States, WAC is a recognized by the IRS as a 501.c3 non-profit organization in the U.S.A., so all who have to pay taxes in the U.S.A. can legally deduct any contribution to the WAC, if you itemize.

To become a member visit our website and choose a dues category, download and print the application form and pay dues for 2-years thru our new PayPal account.  You can use credit cards, bank debit cards or your own PayPal account.  If you want the traditional method you can send a check to Chad Walter at the address on the website.  Please follow the instructions and mail or email your application form to the General Secretary.  After your dues have been paid you will automatically be confirmed as a member of WAC.

The WAC does waive dues for a 2-year period for those who do not have the financial resources to pay the low $20.00 annual membership.  Please follow the instructions and mail or email your application form to the General Secretary.  He will contact me and your name will be submitted to the Executive Council for your confirmation of waiving your membership dues for 2 years.

Again please go to our WAC website at http://www.monoculus.org/membership.html and become a WAC member.  If you are not interested at all in the association, I would ask that you reply to me and I will take your name off our database and not bother you again.

Regards,
T. Chad Walter
