It just occurred to me that I had not installed Malwarebytes --as I said overall I have no use for such things since I try my best to play it safe. I downloaded and installed the free version and left while it was installing. Shortly after my return (I had forgotten about the installation) I noticed the desktop icon for it did not have an image--Did the installation perhaps not go well while I was gone? Instead of double-clicking the icon on my desktop I went on my start menu--again no images on the icon. And then I thought -- oh wait a minute after the install I did a cleanup (routine maintenance) of my PC and by cleanup I mean I deleted all files in my temp folders, and also did a thumbnail cache cleanup--hence why I saw no images on the icon (Or so I thought). Anyhow double-clicking on the start menu icon produced nothing. Going to the actual file "mbam.exe" produced nothing so I reinstalled it. OK I now have an image on my desktop icon--however, it still won't start. A Bing search suggested I delete my 'mbam.exe' and get a fresh one here on this site to replace it. Well a search on this site (not the forum) for 'mbam.exe' produces o results (Really?! 0 results, how could this be? It is your main file and you have 0 results--time to redo your search engine here I would think)
Did you install a Malwarebytes update at all, or just a Windows Update? I ask because originally, this issue was caused by upgrading or installing Malwarebytes and attempting to open the UI too soon afterwards. If not, then it is possible that the WIndows Update you installed caused the issue somehow, perhaps by corrupting your Malwarebytes installation in some way.
Yes, the issue with Malwarebytes' UI not opening after updating it is a known issue with several past versions. It was fixed in a recent update so it should not happen any more unless it is being caused by a different issue, as was the case here with the Windows Update issue.
I just downloaded malwarebytes because l've noticed my fans randomly speeding up when my pc is idle, also window antivirus scans don't fully complete when i start them manually but this was less of a concern as I get random notifications from automatic scans saying that nothing was detected but I decided to try malwarebytes anyway, after installing and doing the setup, right as it prompted me about the free 12 day premium trial the application froze, and I couldn't exit out of it aside from using task manager, then I tried reopening it just to see that it's not opening at all, regardless if i use administrator or not, so now i'm at a loss as what to do. any help would be greatly appreciated. might be irrelevant, but i catch wallpaper engine flickering off every now and then for like half a second
oh yes, don't worry, just go in finder and search "malwarebytes" and click on "this mac" to search everything on your mac for that term and unless its a log file made by your computer, delete it, basically deleting every remnant of malwarebytes, and redownload it at and click free download in the top right and just honestly follow all the following steps, i had this problem with my grandma's computer last week when i tried getting a hijacker virus off her computer, i tried using her version of malwarebytes but it wouldn't open, it was there, it wasn't showing a question mark (indicating missing crucial files), it just simply wouldn't work, so i deleted all stuff associated with malwarebytes and redownloaded it and it worked again, if you need anything else or have any more questions feel free to ask (also just to clarify one point, YES, it is definitely still recommended by apple, and actually even other big companies like discord and some others that i can't think of right now trust it, and even more companies that use network stuff like apparently amazon and google play from what i found actually trust it too to handle network protection (well, ok they have network protection of their own i'm sure but they just use it as an extra layer i'd presume))
Good day yesterday after many moths decided to use the update which sat dormant on KIS 2019 to latest version 20.0.14.1085(g) but did not uninstall Malwarebytes as suggested and when my pc restarted I could not go online with any of my installed browsers and not thinking it was a compatibility problem spent a long time trying to fix it by uninstalling both Malwarebytes and KIS.
I now only have KIS 2020 installed but feel naked without the added protection from Malwarebyte and after reading this thread going to try and install Malearebytes and leave real time protection un ticked and hope I do not have the same problems as before failing that i will have to look online for the KIS 2019 and install that because it worked with no problems side by side with Malwarbytes.
If Google Chrome web browser suddenly stopped working or opening on your Windows 11 device and you also have Malwarebytes program installed, this article will help you in fixing the issue and using Chrome again without any problem.
Confirmed here, too! In the latter versions of Malwarebytes, turn off "Exploit Protection" by right-clicking the "M" tray icon or after opening the Malwarebytes app. Go into Malwarebytes settings and under "Security" disable starting Malwarebytes at system restart. Restart the system. Install IIS (or uninstall/restart and then install if you already had a broken installation on the system). Restart again. Now, you can run the Malwarebytes app, re-enable "Exploit Protection" and re-enable starting Malwarebytes on startup.
I uninstalled Malwarebytes before installing Bitdefender because I was prompted to do so during the Bitdefender installation. Now I would like to reinstall Malwarebytes if possible because I still have a 1 year subscription. First can this be done safely without damaging my Bitdefender installation and if so how should I modify the settings in both programs so they have minimal impact on each other. I would like to use malwarebytes to only run one time random scans and plan to turn off it's active protection features.
Here is the dashboard on the website after installation and activation is complete. There are links for activation instructions for other devices (such as Android, iOS etc.) and a list of your already installed devices. If you want to move the license, you can simply deactivate all and then follow steps 1-5 on the new device.
I have a similar problem, using any malware software does not detect any problem, I uninstall the 3 applications on my phone 'go security, ace cleaner and superb cleaner' these three application no matter what I do keep re-installing after rebooting my phone.
The Malwarebytes runtime error is a common problem that appears while installing the application on a Windows computer. How to get rid of the installation problem? Take it easy. In this article developed by MiniTool Partition Wizard, you will learn about 5 possible solutions to the error.
As mentioned before, the improper %TEMP% folder location could cause Malwarebytes installation runtime error. To solve the problem, you can follow the instructions below to move the folder to its default location:
Microsoft's Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter might be useful for fixing the Runtime Error since that's a software installation issue. This troubleshooter is designed to resolve problems that block users from installing or removing software.
If you're still trying to resolve Runtime Error after applying resolutions one to five, run a CHKDSK scan to check the condition of your PC's hard drive. There could be an HDD or SSD error causing the installation issue on your PC. The CHKDSK (Check Disk) tool can repair any file system errors detected.
It seems that there are many users who have difficulty uninstalling programs like Malwarebytes from their systems. Some experience issues during uninstallation, whereas other encounter problems after the program is removed.
There could be other causes why users may not be able to uninstall Malwarebytes. An incomplete uninstallation of a program may cause problems, which is why thorough removal of programs is recommended.
5. It will start the repair process of Malwarebytes in background. It will automatically preserve your Premium License Key, if any. Basically, it does a fresh installation of Malwarebytes protection and fixes any possible problems using built-in scripts. The repair process also depends on your Internet connection speed, it usually takes around 5-10 minutes. Grab a cup of coffee in the meanwhile.
