Preface:
Along, with the road extension and widening program that is being done rigorously inside the Kathmandu valley (which basically aims to destruct facilities that were created illegally), lots of legal personal properties are also being the target of the same move.
We urge the media to hear the voices of such citizens whose properties are now becoming the victims of this adhoc and unplanned activity.
The current case shows the injustice happening to the residents of
ward no 16. There are plenty of such cases around the valley. We request, the
coverage of the mass gathering event planned to be held at:
Siddhi Ganesh School Premises, Lain Chowr
Today : 4th Jan 2012
Time: 3:00 P.M. (Gathering), 5:00 P.M. (Procession)
This event is planned to turn into a procession and aimed to march towards Hisila Yami’s office (Near Balaju Industrial Area @ Old YCL office).
The major issues raised by the local residents:
The road construction is impractical and not negotiable and hence is not agreeable at all to local residents of ward no 16 due to the following mentioned reasons; and can only be considered if government is ready to give details for the proper immediate after-math, the satisfactory settlements/compensation to the victims:
1) The houses were constructed before 2033 B.S. with land ownership documents adhering road construction policies, and house owner have been regularly paying house tax to government. So these houses should not be destroyed until any decision of satisfactory compensation from Government.
2) The Houses constructed even after 2033, but have proper land ownership documents and adhere to the road planning policies of 5 meters and 7 meters that had been changed in times, and house owner have been regularly paying house tax to government.
3) Above all, many of the victims are economically weak, and won’t be able to reconstruct their home even on low rate loan provision that is heard to be the next government plan. So, the government should think before demolishing private properties and homes, before making this move for a planned better-Kathmandu.
As a result of government’s weakness to implement a strong policy, it has lead to transitional changes in road planning policy. Hence, the Government is totally responsible for this and should not create plight and havoc for the local residents.
Note: This is not a political move, but a responsible step of local residents to make our current government aware of the big disaster ahead in the entire city; due to which hundreds and thousands of homes could get destroyed.
