"More Who Clips Found --- A collection of clips from two missing Patrick
Troughton Doctor who stories have been found in New Zealand. In total
the clips run to just over a minute in length. Most of the 16mm footage
(41 seconds) is from The Web Of Fear Episode 4, but there are also tiny
segments from episodes 2 and 5 of that story, and episode 5 of The Wheel
In Space. The segments in question were cut from episodes by New Zealand
NZBC before transmission. Were discarded and eventually found there way
into the hands of a private collector. They were discovered by a Dr Who
fan in Wellington while cataloguing a collection of film reels."
"Doctor Choo Choo ---- Anoraks and thermoses at the ready they've named
a train after Dr Who ---- Dr Who got a double whammy of tributes on the
19th May. The day began with a train being named after the series, and
continued with the unveiling of a plaque as a tribute to the actors who
played the first three doctors. In the morning Virgin Trains launched
their new " Super Voyagers" (high speed tilting stock) by naming the
first Doctor Who......Virgin Trains executive Chris Green said at the
start of the ceremony that it was a fitting name since " the new trains
are reminiscent of the great TARDIS. They are not only spacious inside,
but will magic people away to destinations from as far away as Aberdeen
to Penzance." Yeah! right and knowing Virgin they will be just as
reliable as the TARDIS was too.....The unveiling ceremony was attended
by Liz Sladen, Richard Franklin, Sarah Sutton, and Frazer Hines.
Later in the day three blue plaques commemorating former doctors,
William hartnell, pat troughton, jon pertwee were unveiled at BBC TV
centre......"
