Hello everyone. We had a more successful April club meeting last Friday at the residence of Rich Winter. We sampled a couple commercial examples of Belgian ales as well as a couple homebrew samples. Other beers sampled were a 60 Schilling Scottish Ale, a chocolate stout and 2 different pepper beers. For those of you that did not make it to the club meeting, reading the postings on this site will be your best source for information and upcoming events.

Next month is Big Brew Day. Unlike years in the past, this year's event will be held in Genoa at Gabe's house.  He will post directions on this site  for those of you wishing to attend. Two different brews will be cooking that day.  Those of you wishing to brew are welcome to participate.  Those of you wishing to visit, watch or learn are welcome as well.  As in previous years, this is a family friendly event.  You are welcome to bring family and guests. This year's event will be celebrated on Saturday May 4th.  The traditional high noon toast to home brewing will occur for those of you early birds wanting a full day of brewing. Carpooling may be an option for those wishing to cut costs or find a designated driver.

One additional item I wanted to mention.  Several of you have hops growing at home.  Now is the time to harvest rhizomes to share with others. Anyone wishing to receive or those extending offers of, should do so soon.  Warm weather will be upon us soon!  With that in mind, I do have a 3 year old Sazz plant that is spreading out enough to offer rhizomes.  Anyone wanting one can contact me.

Lets have another successful Big Brew Event!  Hope to see you there.

Apologies if this is a repetitive post- thought I put this up but cannot view it.

My address is 331 N. Elm St. Genoa, NE.  It is kind of a tan brick ranch house west across the highway from the local motel as you come into Genoa from the east on Hwy 22. I'm on the highway so I may have to park you on a side street.  Fortunately I have some yard that is best used for parking.   If you have any questions please ask.

I'll be brewing the CAP from the AHA Big Brew Day website.  My initial plan was to mash in early but it probably won't happen until after noon.  If you are brewing give me a heads up if you need anything (water for cooling, etc) and I'll work something out.

I'll have some pulled pork for sandwiches but can always fire up a grill if you have something else in mind.

Tom you did a great job last year so if it looks like I'm missing anything give me a heads up.

Looking forward to Saturday.
Gabe
