Hello all,
Thanks to all who participated in the David City Brew Ha Ha, it was a great time. As discussed in the last meeting, next month's style is in the category of British Bitter. I have received a pallet of British Maris Otter Pale ale malt to aid in creating a genuine British bitter. 55 pound bags are 50$. Also, next month is teach a friend to brew. It is scheduled to be at my house on Saturday November 3rd. However, Gottberg is going to participate in the World Beer Festival in Omaha on that day, so I will not be able to make it Saturday. We have 2 options here. First, we can move it to the next day, Sunday. Or, Rich Winter has offered to host it at his house on the original day, the 3rd. Let me know asap what works best, and we will work something out.
Next, as mentioned above Gottberg is going to participate in the world beer festival in Omaha at the new arena in Ralston. Over 65 breweries are going to be there from all over the world, as the name suggests. My friend Vinnie Jones and the president of the Railroaders Homebrew club in Omaha wants me to pass this message along:
Good afternoon,
I've been put in charge of obtaining homebrewer
volunteers for the upcoming World Beer Festival. Home brewers aren't
allowed to pour their own beer at this event (maybe next year), but I
want our groups to volunteer in full force regardless to support the
event. The idea is to have as many knowledgeable people manning the
tables as possible so this is more of an educational event than a
drunkfest. Even though we won't be pouring our own beers, this will be a
great way to publicize our groups and volunteer for a good cause at the
same time. If you could, please forward this onto your crew.
Thanks!!
VinieVolunteering will get you into the Festival for free. While you will spend most of the time pouring and talking about beer, you will have some free time to wander around and check out other breweries booth's. This is an awesome opportunity for the enthusiastic homebrewer. The link below will take you to the sign up sheet for pouring, logistics and other available volunteer options:
