For me the source was the gmail app. For gmail notifications I normally choose sound notifications but no banners. In order to stop the tri-tone I have to check at least one of the banner options. If I uncheck the 2 banner options below, the tones will return for every new email. This issue began with iOS 15.4.
Since, I was getting the tone I wanted sending Gmail ios to Gmail osx and the banner message was coming up twice and not always the same time as the tone. The tone was what I set under ios notifications. It didn't last for long unless there really is a long long tone delay. No luck. I set a gmail sound within the gmail app again that came through when sending from gmail to icloud, but no more of the apple sounds. Oh wait 1/2 hr later. Mail from phone gmail to osx gmail gave the gmail tone on one popup and the apple tone on the second popup from the same email........ LanguageLaura, your fix is still good, it's someone out there messing with us.
Pending the real fix, I'm working with the iOS settings/notifications/Mail/ custom notifications set for alert, banner, sound and badge for Gmail and only a badge, no sound and no alert, no banner for the iCloud email. Incoming Gmails use whatever sound I set within the settings of the actual Gmail app located at the bottom of all the folders. Least it's a workaround for now. Better than no sounds.
Agree with Auslsa. I keep the notification center option on, I get the sound I want for new email, and I don't have to deal with updates popping up for every email (which is my preference). I am still seeing a delay in the notification sound and the badge on the gmail app....not a big deal I suppose.
When customers purchase via my Square website, a CHA-CHING notification sound alerts me that I've received money. It's a delightful sound and makes me do a little happy dance behind the scenes of my small business. I used to be notified by the same fun little jingle when customers paid their invoices, but I'm no longer getting the fun sound notification for paid invoices. I'm notified by email, but that's not idea as I receive hundreds of daily emails that aren't important. How do we get the sound notification back and why was it taken away? My other payment apps offer a fun payment sound but as of the new year, I am strictly taking Square only payments because the system is just so user friendly and offers it all! (Except my Cha-ching!) Please bring it back!
Here are the apps that I'm using on a daily basis and have this issue, in order of personal importance:
1. Thunderbird, on new email notification
2. Audible notification enabled for Caps-Lock under KDE's Modifier Keys
3. KDE's Audible bell enabled, when the shell needs to play a sound (for auto-complete, for example; using Konsole)
4. Dolphin, on file delete confirmation message box
5. Microsoft Edge, notifications while in Google Meet
I checked Thunderbird's config editor, the mail.biff.use_system_alert setting is on true (never meddled with it) and I already have libnotify installed.
If I go to Thunderbird's General settings, where I can pick the new email notification sound, there is a Play button. I have to click that button 2 or 3 times until the sound actually plays.
I was wondering how I could play a notification sound without playing it over the media stream. Has anyone found a solution to the Arlo notification on iphone ring tone problem. Everyone knows the problem, no pop up menu allowing the user to select a ring tone the can hear when sleeping at night. I tried a email notification to iphone but can't get that to work either work. I had hoped with Arlo operating system 4.03_2 the issue would be resolved but no such luck. Only solution I am left with unless someone can help is ditch Arlo or ditch iphone. If anyone out there has a solution Arlo to iPhone notification ring tone management please reply
I found a crazy fix that works for me. I found an email account that I don't use and that gets no messages (for me it was an old Yahoo account). I then went into my Gmail (which is my main account) and filtered the notification messages from Arlo to go to my Yahoo email. As a result, there's a unique sound on my phone which is my Yahoo account notification sound. Since only my Arlo messages are getting forwarded from my Gmail to my Yahoo account, this solution works for me. I realize it's not a fix for Arlo's poor app design, but at least it's a band-aid until they come up with the latest release and will hopefully listen to all of us complaining about this simple feature upgrade.
I switched my Slack notification sound from the default Knock Brush to Hummus on Dec. 30, 2021. It's been three months now, and strangely, I actually feel pretty dang cheerful when I get a Slack message these days. I know: No sane person should feel joy when receiving a Slack message, but the funny little voice that whispers "hummus" when my boss is asking me to complete a task usually makes me giggle on my best days, and lets me exasperatedly sigh (or scream, depends on the task) at a silly sound on my worst days. Overall, I feel less stressed at the prospect of opening up the Slack app, and my brain feels a bit lighter than the days of the Knock Brush. I don't think I'm ever going back.

Wishlist item #2: Send an email notification that the Siren Rule had been triggered with the date/time stamp of the event. Multiple notifications it if was triggered multiple times. It would be extremely helpful to include a link back to the actual video that was triggered and recorded. Alternatively, just like for the Doorbell, it could place a call to your phone. Most phones can be set to a specific Ringtone depending on the Caller ID, the user could find and set a Siren-like Ringtone for that incoming call. Currently, there is no way to know if or when the Siren Rule has been triggered.
Add Siren Activation to the notifications list in the Cam Settings. Currently, Sirens are not part of Notifications so they cannot send emails or be part of the Detect AI Events list or be acted upon at all.
