Early in the morning I quickly grabbed a few things and drove down to the wharf, I did not think we were in any danger, or that the house was going to burn down.

My recollection is that everyone was told the fire front was coming and would arrive at about 6am. People were advised to leave, no one was told to leave. We had a lot of Firetrucks in town and we would be safe in the main hall and parked down by the wharf. If worst came to worst in the lake or on the beach. People started leaving days before. It was scary when it went dark but we all were safe. We have had amazing support and this is ongoing, focus not on the worst point of the day but on what happened after and how we got through it. Do not be afraid to ask for professional help. Dr Rob Gorden is addressing this again at the MDHSS Thursday at 5:30pm.
