With Angel descending from the sky, he is quickly under cover of the trees.  The knight, not to be deterred, comes crashing through the canopy of the forest after the cleric.

"You heathen priest, prepare to die by the decree of the Order of the Yellow Rose!"  The man's eyes scream out of an intense fury, not like barbarian's, more like a fanatical zealot.

Any question of whether or not to attack these people being resolved by
flyboy's war cry to Angel (not that there wasn't a part of Cal'Shir that
was rooting for the aggressor) he wasn't going to let Angel fight alone.
Whispering arcane words, he felt the power wash over him. Calling as
quietly to Karckok in the clearing as he could, he instructed "Take my
horse and get going, I'll catch up as best I can." With that he moved
toward the impending battle, using the noise of the zealot crashing
through the trees to cover his own noise as much as possible, slowing
down as necessary to sneak up on the intruder, pulling out his darts as
he closes the distance.

Gathering up Cali'Shir's horse, Karchok turns and looks at the unfolding scene before him.  Having a feeling that the flying knight was just the scout, the half-orc frowns.  He wasn't about to spilit the party up.  That and all this talk of "catching up" wasn't happening after he summons up the power to rapidly grow the forest.  On top of the old magics he had used to enrich the area to help purge the demon taint, it would be interesting to say the least.
The druid keeps his black eyes of the flying warrior, trying to puzzle out if his flight came a spell or some magical trinket

Rashear growls slightly, knowing now that the group would be forced

not the groups. He moves closer to the combatants, hoping that Angel
would get the warrior closer to the group, that way Rashear's blades

The priest manages to land as planned, swiftly, about 80' from his
party and horses. Hearing the Yellow Rose knight crashing through the
tree canopy. he directs a quick spell at his frothing foe, attempting
to dispell any magical enhancements he may have, including flying. He
would love to watch the sight of the knight crash land before him.

After observing the knight's landing (hopefully crash), Angel notes
his equipment and magical attributes. Then with a witty comment, the
cleric moves 60' with his own enhanced speed toward his group. "Yellow
is the color of cowards! You shame your false god!"

Breaking into the camp clearing about 20' from the others, he yells,
"The Yellow Rose has found us, no doubt for the witch!" He resists the
urge the chastise them for not fleeing while they could. Why not take
this one out now, then flee. Really weaken and piss the rest of them

catch up by foot, a couple of minutes behind this one."

Quentin liked the idea of Divide on Conquer. Taking out one of them in an isolated way improved their chances of victory tremendously.

He slunk back into the woods for cover, turning off his disguise of Shyam for more suitable stealth apparel. There, he waited for the Yellow Rose to appear.

He'd have to learn to trust Cal'Shir more. Quentin figured the group would make a hasty departure, but nothing they did seemed hasty. It looked like Cal'Shir knew the group would make a lethargic retreat at best.

He drew his rapier and waited.

Only the first arrow strikes true while the other flies feet from the knight.  The man seems surprised from the attack, but continues his frothing advance on the cleric.

Steadying the horse underneath him, Karchok begins to chant.  The ancient words roll off the half-breed tongue easily, as he calls upon the old magics.  A faint shudder creeps the surrounding forest at the sound of the half-orc's chanting voice.  Eyeing the land a few feet behind the Yellow Rose hunter, he feels the gathering energy coil around him as he chants.
Pulled along by the old magics gathering around the young druid, leaves swirled around the chanting half-orc.  The leaves whipped around Karchok, began to pulse with a white-green light as they were infused with the druidic magics.  At the completion of the chant, the leaves gathered in front of Karchok.  Swirling together in a tight ball, the glowing leaves shoot towards the Yellow Rose knight.
Passing by the hunter harmless, the leaf ball stops in midair ten feet behind the combatants.  Hanging there the ball pulses brighter and brighter, scattering the scent of a forest after a rainstorm.
With a sudden quiver, the white-green ball explodes, the leaves moving as fast as shooting stars into the woods.  For a moment, nothing happens, other then the sounds of battle.
Then, the effects of the druid's magics became obvious to all.  The sounds of the creaking wood rapidly became near deafening as the forest began to grow.  Rapidly.  The trees swelled and grew, raising their limbs to be closer to the sky.  Think vines began weaving their way around massive tree trunks as the forest becomes near chocked with vibrant life.  If the Yellow Rose pack mates where in there, they weren't going to be coming to his aid quickly.

Ghost growls, watching members of his pack fight the flying-now-walking two legs.  The hunter/prey wore shiny skin that smelled of Man works.  Hearing his brother begins chanting, he looks up at him.  Ancient powers stirred, causing his hackles to stand straight up at the druid.  "Woofing" in excitement, the big grey wolf watches the gathering magics, sniffing at the air.
Scar pays little interest in the fighting warm bloods.  Perhaps if they were closer, he might bother himself to tear a chuck of two out of the newest warm blood.  Drool oozes from the scarred reptile as thinks about joining the fray.  The reptile had taken a few steps forward when it heard the old sound of the old magics.  Heart beating in sudden excitement, the wide eyed reptile looks back at the chanting druid.

Diedra can be seen passing the knight, giving the man twenty feet of space, heading into the foliage to the south on the back of the worg.  "Take care of him and then run.  I'll catch up soon!"  She calls out to the group.

Seeing his first arrow strike true, Keryth continues with his volley of arrows directed at the knight.  His bowstring hums twice more as he hopes to weaken the knight before he is able to attack anyone from their group.  The knight’s armor has no problem turning either arrow aside.

Smithy reaches the knight and dismounts a five foot step away from him, readying his shield and sword.  "Will your comrades double their efforts against us after you are dead?"

Seeing that the man in armor was closing on Angel, with weapon drawn.  Tempus decides to take the most direct course of action.  With a loud battle cry, Tempus charges the man and swings wildly and viciously at the knight.

Tempus blinded by the fury of his rage to the point that he almosts misses the knight entirely.  If it weren’t for the strength of his rage the farm boy would have drawn sparks off the armor at best, but the armor spilts at the back plate and causes a fairly grievous wound to the man.

With a tongue click, Synxol's heels impact the flanks of his mount, and his fingers tighten on the reins to brace against the inevitable momentum shift of his horse's movements, the sorcerer starts on a course directly for the jaundiced flower.

Showing his hands to be empty, the fey-touched human rides using only his leg muscles to hold on, Synxol hails the approaching man, "There must be a misunderstanding and need not be bloodshed this day. Let us lower our weapons and raise glasses together as friends."

As the knight chases after Angel, Cal'Shir positions himself to flank the man and with darts already in hand, lets loose when the target is already engaged with another and is within striking distance for a sneak attack.

Angel’s assessment of the knight is clear on a few points.  The man’s gear is magical and not just slightly so.  He is also going to die trying to kill Angel if it is all he can do.  The complexity of the magiks aroud the knight will take some more concentrating to understand more indepthly.

In replay to Karchok, Shyam grips the wand so tightly her knuckles turn white, "But if we can get away from this one..."

She didn't want to fight.  Demons were one thing, even the orcs so unlike her adoptive brother she could fight, but other people.

Finishing closing the ground between himself and the cleric with a yelling charge, Corynth attacks the follower of Wraith.  His sword begins glowing faintly as it hones in the holy man’s form.  The attack does considerable damage to Angel (36 HP), who now know what a smiting feels like.

At the second the knight engages Angel, both Cal’shir and Quentin see their chances.  Cal’shir’s strike hits first since he is throwing a dart.  The dart sticks neatly out of the back of the knight’s knee joint, hobbling the overwhelmed man.  Quentin moves forward and strikes the backside of the knight with his rapier.  He finds purchase in between the breast plate and back plate. The knight is shaken by the sudden arrival of so many allies and looks to be near death.   It can still be counted on that he would attempt one more swing on the cleric.

Diedra can be heard crashing through the foliage to intercept the other Yellow Rose witch hunters.

last thing the knight hears and sees is the cleric offering a prayer

Quentin was glad the false knight met his demise. The Yellow Rose crusaders were a cult; one which was very militant and blinded by their zealotry. They were self appointed enforcers and executioners, who held their own misguided beliefs above those of even the gods they professed to serve.

Still, there were those in the group that looked upon this as a tragedy, or a loss. Being the "morally and ethically flexible" person that he was, he played to the sympathies of these others.

"It is a tragedy this brave soul chose to attack us instead of seeking to understand different points of view. But, make no mistake, we are indeed being hunted. His is merely the fate of all hunting dogs that outpace their main hunting pack."

"As we are the prey, I suggest we take the priest up on his suggestion and put hooves between us and them."

Quentin mounts up on his horse, ready to roll out.

When the knight fell, Tempus let his anger slip away, immediately feeling tired.  Quickly securing his weapon and his shield, Tempus hurried as quickly as he could to mount his horse.  Only when he was on his horse, did he notice who was holding the reins.  Tempus turned a bit pink, gave a weak smile and mumbled a "Thanks" to Shyam, as he reached to retrieve the reins from her.

At the fall of the Yellow Rose fanatic, Cal'Shir moves with his enhanced
speed to the knight, calling out for the others to help as he moves.
"Help me get him on a horse now! We need to move out." Cal'Shir directs
whoever listens to get it on the nearest horse, checking for and
removing any loose pouches before they have a chance to fall off. He
takes an extra moment to make sure there is nothing left, not weapons or
anything else the assailant might have dropped, even taking a moment to
kick some dirt over the blood spilled on the ground. Then he runs toward
his horse, eager to leave.

Holding his arrow, Keryth decides that the over-zealous knight will
fall soon enough. Proven right in a matter of seconds, he surveys the
battlefield, watching as the rest of his group gets ready to depart.
Lowering his bow, Keryth moves forward. Hearing talk about keeping

he will give us no reliable information. It's obvious this fanatical
group will stop at nothing to do what they see is right - including
rushing a well armed party alone. In ways these Yellow Rose zealots

Shyam hands the reins to Tempus when he mounts his horse her skin
pale, either still from the aftermath of the ealier battle with the
demon, or due to the ease in which the Yellow Rose warrior was put
down. She wanted to leave, to get as far away from the area as

unsettled. But now was not the time or place to argue, there were
others and they were on their way here.

"Let's go!"

Not caring where his horse had wandered off to, the sorcerer moves

"Leaving would be the best course of action, leave the knight, he'll only slow us down," Karchok says calmly, looking at Synxol.  "Followers of a nature deity would not just attack so rabidly.  Unless we were corrupting or destroying the natural order.  I'm betting he would rather kill himself then answer any of our questions," Karchok breaks his gaze with Synxol to look at the the others of the mixed hunting pack.  "Feast from his belongings if you must.  Synxol and I will stay so I can remove our presence, and the site of the battle from this place."  The half-breed slowly dismounts his horse.  "Just don't take too long.  And don't worry, the two of us will be able to sniff the rest of you out, in case you get to far ahead."
"If the rest of you would be so kind as to stay with Shyam and keep her safe, I would appreciate it," he waits for the others to begin stripping the magical gear form the Yellow Rose Knight.  He had no desire to touch anything used by the knight, personally.
Turning to met Synxol's gaze, he nods to the fey-touched human.
"You know why you were chosen by Tarlman?" the young druid asks of Synxol, speaking sylvan quietly.  "I believe it's a because you are a guardian of the Fey.  You can go between the two worlds and be accepted by both.  As such a guardian, you were drawn to him when he summoned the fey at the sight of our home." Karchok meets the sorcerer's intense gaze with his own calm one.  He lowers his voice so that it only carries between the two.  "I need you here in case I fail in my duty for some reason or another.  A duty I hope will never have to preform.  If Shyam...," the druid stops to clear his throat from a sudden well of emotions.  "If my sister becomes fully possessed by the demon price, she will cease to be.  It will only be the demon, inhabiting her body.  My sister will be gone then.  The thing that's left over well make the corruption we just encountered look like nothing.  My duties as a druid are fairly clear at that point.  The blight will have to be destroyed.  I imagine the demon would not make that easy.  It tears my heart apart to even think about such a thing, but I must.  If I fail, I need someone I can count on to destroy the demon's physical body."
Karchok pauses for a moment, looking in Shyam's direction, his face softening momentarily, before his emotionless Druid Mask slides back into place.
"I pray that this will never be the case, but I will not take that chance with the Natural Order.," he adds with a slight shake of his head, returning his gaze to Synxol.  "While my sister is herself, I will do everything that is within my power to aid and protector.  But that might not be enough.  I believe he asked you to join us because I might not be strong enough on my own.  Or the demon might realize I could tell whether or not Shyam is still herself, and slit my throat."
Karchok turns his head, watching the others move for a moment, and continues to speak to Synxol, surprising fluent in the sylvan tongue.
"Although there are many tales of witches in the past becoming the demon's gateway, there was also a prophecy that foretold a witch who would break the demon's influence.  The prophecy was from a seeres whom herself was a witch from the same line that my sister is from.  She spoke the prophecy while she was being burnt alive at the stake. As far as my sister's visions go, they have all been disturbingly accurate, so I have a strong hope that she is the one that is spoke of.  If it is not, then it is better that we be close at hand."

"It appears as though he is coming with us, so I guess we won't be staying," the half-orc says as he retrieves his reins from Shyam.  "Thank you though."  Getting back on his horse with a sigh, he settles into the saddle.  He really couldn't see the wisdom in keeping the knight  with them, or leaving an enemy alive for that matter.  Maneuvering his horse, he rounds up Synxol's horse.
"Holding a rabid animal close to yourself is never a good idea," Karchok mutters to himself.  He wondered if it was because the knight was human was the real reason the were squeamish about spilling his blood.  The spoke of questioning him, but the druid was positive that was going to prove to be a waste of time.  'Still if it makes the city dwellers feel more civilized, whatever,' the druid thinks to himself.  He had a feeling he was gong to end up cleaning their mess.
Karchok had planned to let Synxol talk to the zealot, so that the mage could get a scent for some of the enemies that they would face.  Misguided fools and madmen.  Then, the half-orc would slit his throat as he would any animal that was suffering to ease it's passage to the afterlife and summon a swarm of insects to consume the body.  Finally he would ask the plants to grow rampant in the area that they had been in.
Looking at Synxol, Karchok considers the fey-touched sorcerer.
"I do not control the city dwellers.  They operate of there own laws and whims that I don't really understand," he says speaking sylvan again.  Sagging in his saddle, the half-breed looks at Synxol, his black eyes filled with sadness.  "I am here to try to save my sister from those that seek to end her life.  Some would say for a just reason they seek to end her journey.  I believe that if she dies, the demon will just look to the next bloodline descendant. So just killing the body that the demon may one day inhabit, is nothing but a temporary solution.  We are after something a little more permanent." he says keeping his voice low.

Turning in the saddle to look at Synxol, the druid's head cocks to the side as he considers the sorcerer's question.  It seemed Tarlman had sent the fey-touched sorcerer along to be more then an ally against the demon.  Synxol was reminding Karchok that not all humans were the same.  The god's knew the half-orc could use the occasional reminder.
"Yes, there would be little point in killing an unarmed, defeated human," Karchok says, speaking common, even though he didn't quite agree.  The knight was an enemy, made even worse by his zealous nature, he would never give up.  It's not like the Yellow Rose would spare them, more like torture them for have the audacity to have been born .  "I don't think the number of cold blooded murders is that high within our hunting pack," the druid says, casting a glance at Scar.  Looking back at Synxol, he nods.
"We'll leave him incapacitated, not dead, once we are done questioning him," the druid says.  "I highly doubt he has anything useful to say.  It will probable be as interesting as listening to Angel rant about contracts, but if that how you want to spend your night, that's your business."
With that said, the druid begins chanting.  A familiar looking green-white ball of energy begins to glow between his out stretched hand.  The ball of vital energy rises above Karchok and shoots back towards where the had battle the knight.  Shaping the ancient magics, the druid works increases the area he had cover with the first ritual.

Sighing now that the pace had slowed and with others spreading out to
look for a campsite, Shyam takes the oppertunity to move closer to the
horse on which the knight was carried. She wondered about what drove
the man, why was it that he charged so recklessly after Angel allowing
himself to be surrounded and taken down by their group. The image of
him soaring from the sky to land shortly after Angel, then charging,
the determined look on his face, was it to be the same with her? With
so many questions she asks softly, "He really couldn't be reasoned

Quentin, who had been keeping a close eye on the knight for the entire trip, hears her questions.

"The Yellow Rose are zealots. They cannot be reasoned with. They view you as a blight to the land and an affront to their god. They would listen to your words no more than you would listen to a devil trying to teach you morality."

"And they undoubtedly view us as your evil minions, so any hope of us speaking on your behalf would be wasted as well."

"Understand this... they respect no law but their own. They serve no other authority than the interpretation they've made of their god."

Then, very quietly, he adds "It is reprehensible, Shyam, but this knight should not be allowed to live. The others will respect your choice in the matter, but I suggest you start steeling yourself to that decision. If he lives, he will return to attempt to kill you. If he dies, the other Yellow Roses he was allied with will have further reason to kill you. Not that they don't already think they have that reason."

Quentin added a very concerned and compassioned look to his face, in sympathy to the difficult, but to him obvious, choice Shyam must soon make. He had long ago sold off such qualms about good and evil as long as the end mission was somehow Just.

he attack?"

Quentin shrugs "Because he's a zealot? I don't know. These people aren't stupid, they're just fervently misguided. I would guess they have a description of all of us by now. As Angel was up in the air, and our friend here had a fly spell, Angel was likely the first 'enemy' he identified and went after him."

"With the knight's armor, weapons, and other things, it's likely they can locate us magically through them, too. Before we make camp, we should probably put them in a bag of holding, portable hole, or other extra-dimensional space to avoid detection."

Quentin had learned the trick of using these things as a means of escaping magical location from some of his rogue friends in the past, and had employed it on a few missions for the crown that required it.

Cal'Shir quietly listens to Quentin and Shyam talking while casting a
Detect Magic spell, smiling slightly at his fellow rogue's suggestion,
one he was just starting to act on, then makes sure the captive is still
unconscious (or makes him so, if necessary) before he drops him off the
horse unceremoniously. Carefully he removes everything, dropping what he
can into his magical haversack and mentally noting what is and isn't
magical. If anything looks like it might also be a magical pouch or
contain a magical space, he puts that aside to make sure no one tries to
put it in an existing inter-dimensional item.

Still confused by Quentin's perception, Shyam couldn't wrap her mind
around the ideas of a zealot enough to understand why anyone would
kill without first making sure there was a need. The only comparrison
she had were those who taunted Karchok for his orc heritage.

Cal'Shir's sudden treatment of the knight startles her out of her
thoughts. She hadn't expected anyone to just dump him on the ground
like that, it was...cruel. She jumps to the ground pushing herself
between them. "Stop it. Even if we must kill him, it doesn't mean we
treat him like a sack of garbage."

Quentin was concerned Shyam would fail to see the importance of the knight's need to be killed. Even though she mentioned it was a possibility, her concern over the knight's treatment was a concern of his. Still, being on her good side was the key to maintaining integration with the group.

"Shyam's right.", he says, adding to a long list of things he's said that he didn't believe. "We have to treat the knight with respect."

A thought entered his head that would end the side taking. "Besides, Cal'Shir, Shyam is an inherently good and fair person, and may have trouble passing on a death sentence for this knight. She needs to experience his zealotry and hatred for her, simply because of her powers. If we mistreat the knight, there will always be doubt in her mind whether his attitude was borne from his zealotry, or our treatment of him. Let us ALL treat the knight with respect, so that she can see his true colors, unprovoked through any action of ours."

Cal'Shir doesn't take his eyes off Shyam's as she gets in his way. "Fair
enough, Quentin. As for you, Shyam" he adds more privately, whispering
"remember this moment, and your compassion, it may be one of the
memories you will need to help fight off the demon influences in the
months and years ahead." Stepping around the young woman, he sets about
his task.

Tempus remains on his horse, feeling oddly conflicted about the situation.  Keeping the knight alive was a risk.  He could easily wake up and want to kill them all over again.  He had never had the problem before of deciding whether to keep a foe alive or not.  Usually, they didn't make it.  Tempus turned away, and tried to distract himself from the uneasiness inside.  Finding a camping site seemed to become a more difficult task.

"I didn't say we had to repect him." Shyam responds to Quentin, "But
our treatment of others is a relection of ourselves." Words she had
heard from Devlin.

Pulling one of the mans arms out from under his body, she tries to put
him in a more 'comfortable' position.

Sagging tiredly in his saddle, Karchok watches the proceedings with half open eyes.  He was still tired from the amount of old magic he had using recently, fatigue had sunk it's claws into him deeply.  Glancing at Ghost and Scar, he could see the animals were both ready  for a break.  Ghost's tongue hung out as he pants tiredly. Scar sides were heaving as the large reptile sucked in air.
"There's a decent enough spot over there," Karchok points to a copse of trees off the trail.  The copse was nice and thick looking, with lot's undergrowth to help them to hide from sight.  He didn't think there was a stream, but he he could create water if need.
Listening to Shyam, Karchok can't help but smile looking over at his sister, hearing her echo Delvin's words.  A phrase he had heard quite often when had come to live in Maidenshire.  Usually directed at the half-orc after he had gotten into a fight.  "Well said," he says quietly to Shyam.
"I'll go check out the possible campsite.  Play nice while I'm gone,"  with that said, the half-orc's body shivers as he reshapes himself. Flowing into the form of a raven, he spreads his wings to stay steady on the saddle.  Digging his talons into the saddle, Karchok preens his shiny black feathers for a few moments.  The changed druid turns his head to look at Shyam and caws once.  His horse had turned it's head to stare at the raven, trying to figure out where the druid went to.
Spreading his wings he takes flight, heading over to the copse of trees, a single black feather lazily floating to the ground.

Tempus stiffened at Shyam's statement.  How I treat others is a reflection of myself?  That thought made Tempus feel positively horrible inside.  It was like that time, that didn't feel too long ago, when he had first raised a weapon to defend his family.  Was that all he was?  A killer?  Tempus felt his anger begin to rise as he looked at Shyam.  Then he turned aside.  She wasn't the one at fault.  It was him.

Tempus hunched over a bit in the saddle, glancing up when Karchok spoke.   Turning in the direction that Karchok pointed, Tempus suddenly saw an opportunity to escape the situation.  He turns his horse in that direction.  As he passed Karchok's horse, he grabed the reins to lead the half-orc's horse.  As he rode, a black cloud seemed to follow him, a cloud of rage and hurt.

Rashear listens to the others talk about the knight, feeling
conflicted he started to weigh the pros and cons of letting the knight
live, to spew his hate on everyone in the party. After a few moments
he turns Mistwalker around to study the party's tracks, already
starting to plan on how he could obscure their trail. " The knight
will have a measure of my respect, until he tries to attack any of us
again. Perhaps he will listen to us, perhaps not, now I agree with
hiding his gear and anything marked with the Yellow's Rose's seal is a
good idea, as I'm sure that they would have magic to track them. Now
I will keep a look out for Karchok to come back, also to see if our
unwelcome guests are getting closer."
Rashear dismounts from Mistwalker's saddle, glad that the horse still
had enough energy for the moment but knowing that soon she would need
to be returned back to her plane to rest. He tries to gauge how much
time he would have his horse, touching the horse figure in he belt
pouch, he feels the warmth still emanating from it. tying
Mistwalker's reigns to a near by tree branch, he moves away from the
group, still within ear shot, he looks for a tree with a good enough
view of the surrounding area, spotting one he starts to scale the
tree, looking for hand holds and pulling himself upwards.

Since things are so quiet here, I hope no one minds me asking a
question. I'm creating a 7th level arcane caster (mage or sorcerer, I
haven't quite decided) fir a 3.5 version game and have been instructed
to request 2 or 3 "+2" items. I'm guessing that could also mean items in
a similar price value range, so what would you ask for, if that was your
criteria? What's your idea of the best two or three items you would want
for your caster?

Maybe one to increase your specialty area or school interest e.g.
evocation and one to mitigate a weakness e.g. low dex or con.

Hello everyone,

Thank you all for patiently waiting for the game to resume.  We are back on as of now.  Please respond to this post if you are still around.  I know that Karchok and Rashear's players are still here.  I'm confident that the rest of you are as well.  Thanks again for your patience.

After what seems like weeks of riding, a ride likely heightened by the urgency of the cargo they carried, Quentin nudges Shyam and says "Is that clearing over there a good place to set up camp?"

The group is gathered in the copse of trees between a weeping willow and a strong oak tree.  The eyes of the scouts don't survey any one approaching the site, which begins to create as much of a sense of ease as possible.  As firewood is gathered to warm the adventurers and keep animals away from the campsite, the sun begins to dip in the eastern sky.  Although there is no clear skies to see the globe of the major sun through, a blood red horizon lays like a blanket through the eastern sky; offset only slightly by the green slow of the lesser sun in the north.

The knight continues to lay motionless in his bounds on the ground near the location of the fire.  Karchok returns from his flight without finding anything threatening to the group.  His form appears from a raven that lights the ground nearby.  His arrival seems to awaken the party's guest.

As he wakes and realizes his bounds, he violently begins to struggle.
