Job Opening: Youth Services Coordinator
Are you enthusiastic about sharing books, rhymes, music, and movement with children and their
caregivers in story times? Interested in sharing books, technology, and other media with children
and their families? Committed to working collaboratively to provide innovative and excellent
services and programs? Comfortable working with all ages of youth – children, tweens and
teens? If so, the Washington County Public Library invites applications for the position of
Youth Services Coordinator.
This position is responsible for leading and managing all Youth Services collections, resources,
services, partnerships, programs, activities and a staff of two. The Youth Services Coordinator
provides expert professional guidance on youth services and articulates an inspiring vision to
achieve the Library’s goals and objectives. The ideal candidate is collaborative and demonstrates
excellent customer services skills, develops effective work teams, and communicates effectively
with youth, parents, patrons and staff. The position serves on the library’s administrative team.
Education, Experience and Training
Master’s degree in Library Science and/or Information Science from an American Library
Association accredited program, preferred;
A Master’s degree in Education from a CAEP-accredited (formerly NCATE) program may be
considered based on experience;
Experience with program planning for youth, preferred;
Evidence of progressively responsible supervisory/management experience, preferred;
Knowledge of technology in a public library setting, preferred.
We offer a competitive salary with relevant education and experience. This is a full-time,
exempt position with benefits; 40 hours per week; includes some evenings and weekends.
