Can Ruby/Rails connect to Digital Camera?

Hi everyone...

May I know is there any ruby/rails project that can connect our system
to digital camera?

From my findings, the are a few projects listed in rubyforge that used
camera as input

such as
http://rubyforge.org/projects/hornetseye/
http://rubyforge.org/projects/axis-netcam/
- if nos mistaken, this axis-netcam used IP-camera as input... right?

But I'm not sure that this 2 projects have functions that can control
the digital camera function such as zoom, flash light and capture the
picture...

any suggestion?
