Dear all Ruby-enthusiast:-),
I was delighted to have come across Msia Ruby Brigade because I do no
know of anyone who uses Ruby yet (in Msia). I'm learning how to
prog:-) I'm interested in Ruby because it's open source & I'd like to
learn how to use Ajax.

Welcome. There are a few out there, just lurking. Rails does make
producing sites that use the ajax technique simpler via RJS. Do attend
our monthly meetups which are on third Thursdays of the month.
Location varies, but we firm that up as it gets closer.

Dear all,
Thanks for the warm welcome & the invitation to join the meeting on 17
June. I'd also like to thank Nicolas for having given me valuable
tips. Thanks thanks thanks:-) I won't be able to join the 17 June
session, though - will be attending an entrepreneurship workshop by
Ken Morse at Shangri La. & will be very busy at work (yes, I have a
full-time job. 8.30am - 6pm). I'm sorry I haven't written a proper
intro & profile. But There are some things I'd like to clarify. I am
not a programmer, I have never had formal education in IT. Not a
rocket scientist, not a tech expert... I'm a freelance photo-editor -
helping people to look good in their Facebook/MySpace profile (sounds
fun:-) but a lot of tedious work is involved, just like programming).
I also teach photo-editing to kids & adult beginners. Now, I'd like to
learn programming. I choose Ruby becuase it's user-friendly. I read a
beginners' guidebook by Chris Pine. I have done some of the exercises
in the book. But simple stuff, really - the 'strings' and 'numbers',
the Hello World stuff. I want to learn Ruby because I'd like to have
my website someday (& use Ajax+ other canggih stuff). I now have a
blog http://askcharmaine.blogspot.com, which I hope to upgrade into a
website once I'm good enough in Ruby:-))

Yo!

chris book is good and fun enough to learn for a very basic programmer
who got no programming background. if you finish reading that book,
you can try also to finish books like rails way and/or learning ruby
and learning rails to satisfy your new programming passion ;-) once
you're good in ajax/jquery and js design pattern i'll have someone to
ask :-))

Good Luck!
