KUALA LUMPUR -- In a move seen to patrol the border area with Thailand, Malaysia on Saturday mobilized three armoured cars to that area.
Deputy Internal Security Minister Noh Omar said in a statement that the move also aims at discouraging illegal entry by Thai nationals into Malaysia.
Omar said the deployment was to demonstrate Malaysia's resolve to deter intrusions into its territory, and he hoped the Thai authorities would also step up measures on their side of the border to prevent their nationals from crossing over illegally.
"I believe it would be better if the Thais also increase their border control to prevent their people from entering Malaysia illegally," he told reporters during a tour on an area bordering Thailand.
