My Dear Friends

 

It was indeed a great pleasure & honour to have an opportunity to celebrate Onam with hundreds of Ammas at different places with the support of our kind hearted members. Within minutes of circulating the proposal, we received offers from many of our friends who could feel the sea of love of our Amma.

 

We all love our Amma and always remember her unconditional love!

 

We have been updating the sponsors with the details, including the bills of Onappudava purchased for the Ammas, from time to time.

 

Have completed the celebration at some places and will be celebrating the same at some more places in the days to come. Further communication/update will be shared with the sponsors only.

 

We express our sincere thanks to all for the kind help and support to give some happiness to these Ammas.

 

All these Ammas were extremely happy & I am sure, we all will have their blessings.

 

Let us THANK GOD for giving us a wonderful life and let us continue helping such less fortunate people.

Dear Sir,

 

Under the approvals, support  and blessings of MFG Ahmedabad, we celebrated Onam today for MFG supported Ammas.  

 

Ammas got golden opportunity to interact with each other, share their joy and sorrows and participate in the celebrations. They recollected their earlier times, cherishing Mahabali’s dreams and aspirations for Malayalee community.

 

Many of them were escorted as they could not travel alone.  They had nice Onam lunch,  attractive Onapudava and Rs 100  cash for conveyance. Onam Pappadam and Onam banana chips were distributed (sponsored by Onam Pappadam company and Kavitha bakery respectively).  Ammas who dressed fittingly on the occasion of Onam were selected and given prizes (shawls). They were all honoured. Ammas sincerely praised MFG and Gopal ji and expressed gratitude. 

 

This year, we invited Press, Representatives of all Political parties and Community leaders/elders in addition to local Municipality Chairperson and Councillors. Their food cost was met by Rotary.  Many of them spoke about MFG contribution for the deprived community, as they are well aware of MFG charity here. Community recollected MFG's support for a nursing student from this region to continue her studies by sponsorship from MFG member abroad.

 

Ammas enjoyed their time with Rotarians and local MFG volunteers who coordinated the event for MFG by serving and looking after the Ammas. 

 

We got a spot donation of Rs 2000 from a Lions Club member for Ammas. Therefore we have some excess money with us and also a few Onapudava also.  We shall arrange to deliver the Onapudava to the Amma’s home in the coming days (who could not come and participate due to hospitalisation/ illness).   

 

We profoundly thank our MFG founder leader Mr Gopal Nair ji and sponsors for giving us this splendid opportunity to 'lunch' with our Ammas and give a good time to them on the eve of Onam.  You  and we all will have abundant blessings!  Gopal ji's heart is always with the downtrodden and he never forget the deprived and deserved.

Sir,

Kindly see the attached photos of the programme conducted on today. There were 30 Ammas attended the progarmme. Some of them went to hostel mess hall for Onasadya immediately after receiving the Onapudava. So they are not seen in the group photo. We noticed it only after receiving photos from studio. 

 

The programme was a good success and all ammas expressed their gratitude to MFG for supporting them.

Good morning uncle, we can definitely contribute for this sadya and onapudava. 

 

Onapuduva can be bought from places like pothys since u get good kasavu mundu at reasonable price. 

 

I am at ahmedabad from 26th to 6th else cud had taken over trivandrum city wing for arrangement. I am checking with my colleagues here if they would want to be a part of ona sadya. If yes I will let you know. Also it is possible to do it on 9th Sept after onam?

Proposed “Ona Sadya” & “Onapudava” to some poor elderly people

 

Dear Friends

 

By the grace of GOD, many of us can enjoy “feast” everyday! But we all know that there are many less-fortunate people around us who find it difficult to meet their day-to-day end needs. With many “kind-hearted people” with us, we are supporting some poor elderly people @Rs.1000 per month, which is a great help to them to meet their end needs.

 

 

Onam is a Festival of Happiness for all. These less-fortunate people may not be able to celebrate such festivals due to their poor financial condition. Since most of the Ammas being supported by us spread across at different villages of Kerala, it will be a difficult task to organize an Ona Sadya (feast) for all of them at a single place. However, we would like to arrange a sadya atleast to a few of them in a common place, near to their location, at different cities.

 

With a view to give them some happy moments, we propose as follows:-

 

1. To arrange a vegetarian Ona Sadya – per plate cost will be around Rs.150 per person

2. To give Rs.100 cash to each Amma as Autorikshaw fare to reach the venue at a common place to be decided

3. “Onapudava” to them – each at a cost of approx.. Rs.500 to Rs.550/-

Total cost per Amma will be approx.. 800 + Rs.150 for the person accompanying her, as some Ammas may not be ale to travel alone.

We will also arrange the sadya for some blind children in Palakkad alongwith some Ammas.

 

We seek your kind guidance for the above. Unless we take a final decision, please do not transfer any money.

 

We also request the members who have recommended supporting these elderly people whether a sadya can be arranged in a common place near to their village/town – it can be a group of 4-5 Ammas as well. We need the bills of the Onapudava being purchased, which will be shared with the sponsors.

 

Dr. AC Peter has informed his willingness to coordinate the same for Ernakulam District (on 1st Sept) and Mr. Biju in Palakkad (on 30th Aug) – their messages given below. Thanks a lot to both you Sirs. Those who are interested to attend the same may please inform us in advance. Shall revert details of other cities, once we receive the same from our coordinators.

 

We will continue our sincere efforts to support such less-fortunate people with your help and support.

 

We are happy that we have many good-hearted people with us – ever willing to support any cause we undertake. Thanks a lot to all.

Trust that you are keeping fine.

 

It would be wonderful to organise an Onam Sadya for deprived Ammas who are supported by MFG in Kerala.  As in the past, we can do that. These Ammas will cherish the event - a good food with many delicious dishes, Onam spirit, gala get-together recollecting and reconnecting them with their childhood memories/celebrations, an outing for these secluded Ammas and above all an opportunity to mingle and interact with similar suffering Ammas.  There shall be abudant blessings to sponsors/MFG.  After all, it is once in a while that our Ammas get golden opportunity to have this festivities with songs and dance commemmorating the Onam/Onapudava and Mahabali.

 

The names of deserving Ammas (list) are attached.

There will be few supporting escorts for these aged sick Ammas.

We expect 60 numbers (Ammas + escorts).

 

Onam Sadya  60 people  x  Rs 150  = 9000

Onam​ dress    38 Ammas x Rs 550 = 20900

Onam riksha fare  38 x 100 (package/kaineetam - i.e. conveyance) = 3800

Bench + desk (for Sadya banana leaf spread) = 2000

 

Total Rs 35700

 

We have not included our 'blind' friends this time. Then the cost will  go up.

Last year we celebrated Onam with 30 poor ammas. We provided onakkodies and onasadya to them. 

 

This year some of these ammas asked me that whether they get onakkody and onasadya on coming Onam. 

 

Kindly let me know if we can organise such a good event in this Onam.

Some Humble Efforts by MFG:

  • Gift of Vision - Vision Restoration Surgeries to 50 Poor Blind Children from each district. The deserving poor children will be identified by a team chaired by the respective District Collectors. 155 operations done so far.
  • Have disbursed @Rs.10000 to 80 poor blind people as a non-refundable self-employment assistance. Propose to cover alteast 100 people with a short time.

·         Sponsoring a poor girl staying in a hut for MBBS

·         Maintenance Allowance of Rs.1000 per month to 182 poor elders from various parts of Kerala.

·         Built a home for a elderly poor couple at Vayalar Village @Rs.3 lacs

·         Provided artificial limbs to a physically challenged person. Also giving monthly allowance of Rs.2000 per month for sustenance.

·         Provided a laptop and a monetary assistance of Rs.10000 for six months to a polio affect young man who cleared his CA final.

·         With the support of Dr. Peter, Delhi, facilitated FREE heart surgery for three kids from economically disadvantaged class.

·         Provided customized Gearless Scooters to two physically challenged persons

·          Sponsoring a poor girl staying in a hut for Nursing Course

  • Maintenance allowance @Rs.3000 p.m. to 3 orphan girls
  • Support @Rs.3000 to 5 blinds from a family + Rs.20000 for starting a lottery business. 
  • Payments in favour of: "Millennium Charitable Trust"
