Vishu dresses distributed to 28 underprivileged Ammas

The enclosed message from MFG Committee Member, Smt Sree Rajmohan is self-explanatory. There are many such Ammas living a hard life around us – for many obvious reasons.

 

We express our sincere thanks to Mr. Ram and Mrs. Sarita Ram from Australia for their kindness to offer the new dresses to these underprivileged Ammas.

 

We propose to give a lavish Vishu Sadya to these Ammas on 14^th (both lunch and dinner) to make them happy atleast for a day. The total cost will be Rs.8000 only. If any of you would like to sponsor it, kindly do let us know so that we can send their bank details to enable you to send the payment directly to them.

Dear Gopalji,

Today, I visited the Kasturba Vridha Sadanam in Nedupuzha, Trichur which is under Kasturba National trust.

There are 28 old Ammas staying there at present and looked after by the trust even though the grant from the Govt is very little and the members are unable to contribute.

On behalf of MFG, I sourced dresses for these old ammas and we were able to do this Utilising the contribution of Rs. 10,000/- given by Mr. Ram and Mrs Sarita Ram of Australia.

We bought 4 setmundu, 8 sarees, 13 nighties and 3 churidars for the Ammas. These were given to them in the presence of the Center manager, and other well wishers.

 

They informed that the trust organize small sadya during Vishu and Onam.
This year they plan to celebrate Vishu with Sadya on 15^th April, 2023. However, they are planning a small entertainment program (songs by the Ammas) on14th evening with normal food.

No food from outside is allowed inside the poor home. They are cooking inside because all are aged and some are not well with various ailments. So they have to be very careful to take care of the health of these Ammas. So for Sadya, the cost is RS. 5000/-  and for Lunch and dinner, it is RS. 8000/-  

Please inform whether we can sponsor the Sadya for a day on 14^th April, 2023? I can attend and take food with them.

One of them wanted to sing a song after we distributed the dresses. It was indeed very heart touching, listening their sad stories. I controlled my tears as I don’t want embarrass them further.

All of them were so much happy when they received new cloths for Vishu
