It was indeed delightful time for Ammas to witness Onam cultural items presented by Natya Kalashetra students on the occasion of Onam Ammaradoppam organised by MFG unit at Piravom on 19 August 2023, a day before Attham. Few Ammas also sang on the occasion. They were served sumptuous Onam Sadya, ഓണകൈനീട്ടം Onam Kaineetam (cash for conveyance), ഓണപാക്കറ്റ് Onam kit (side dish packets) and ഓണപ്പുടവ Onapudava (set-mundu) .
Chief Guest of the occasion Mrs Justice Annie John spoke to Ammas, encouraged them and infused enthusiasm and energy. She is holding the post of Ombudsman for Cricket Assn. (as per direction of Supreme Court of India).
Municipal Chairperson, Deputy Chairman and former Chairman came to meet and greet Ammas.
Since every time, Natya dance group comes to entertain Ammas, we have given an award to them as a gesture of appreciation.
Asha workers came and offered "grandmother deserving care and love" to aged Ammas.
Local Rotary Club made available their premises for the function and extended help financially and otherwise.
ASHA workers and Ammas arranged the Ona-pookalam.
Mrs Justice Annie John appreciated the noble gesture of MFG for providing such a wonderful platform and opportunity for the sake of happiness of aged and deprived Ammas. Ammas expressed gratitude to MFG, Mr Gopal Nair ji and sponsor patrons of the MFG. Let the blessings of the Ammas be with you and us forever. Many of these Ammas would not have afforded to celebrate the Onam had MFG and its patrons not come forward. It is gratifying that we could make available an exciting and splendid Attham and Onam occasion for Ammas due to the generosity of MFG and its sponsors. We thank you for the excellent support every time extended for taking care/welfare of the Ammas.
The following are the expenses incurred:
(1) Vishu "Set mundu" Rs 30,524.00 (paid by MFG direct to supplier)
Sadya 150 persons @ Rs 130 Rs 19,500 + 3500 + 1000
(Rs 3500 @ Rs 700 for five of their
employees for serving + Rs 1000
for disposal of leafs and leftover)
(2) Sanctioned : Sadya 125 persons @ Rs 130 = Rs 16,250/-
Misc - Chair, table, Kannat etc Rs 14,000.00 (Invoice extra was born locally)
(Tent items)
(3) Sanctioned : Misc - Chair, table, Kannat etc Rs 5,000/-
(4) Conveyance - 100 Ammas @ Rs 200 per person Rs 20,000
Other Invoices for flowers for Pookalam, award and memento, carry bag, printing of banners, set-mundu parcel charge, Onam kit cost, photography charge and other miscellaneous expenses were met locally. The total invoices are attached only for information/record purposes. Meanwhile for Sadya and Tent House items, only the sanctioned amount is requested for payment whereas the balance of invoice amount is met from personal savings.

Onam is celebrated everywhere, every year, despite the increasing cost of vegetables and provisions required for Onam sadya in every household. There are many underprivileged Ammas in our Society who cannot afford to celebrate on their own. There are others who are not able to celebrate due to absence of their dear ones, near to them with supporting hands. These are deprived Ammas waiting for the month of August to avail satisfying opportunities provided by MFG to them every year.
With your and our MFG Patrons blessings and support, we would like to host 100 economically deprived Ammas, on the eve of Onam on 19 August 2023 - Saturday - for giving them a sumptuous Onam sadya, nice Onapudava (set-mundu) and Rs 200 per person for meeting their auto-fare travel expense.
In addition to MFG local unit members, our local Municipal set up has 27 Asha Workers who would also join to support the aged Ammas by giving attention and motherly care to each one of them.
We shall request M/s Kalashetra Music and Dance Academy to entertain them with Onam nadan pattu and dance.
This occasion will give Ammas an opportunity to interact with other Ammas, well-wishers, near and dear ones and also to share their words of wisdom with the younger generation. This will be a platform for them to reminisce and to dance and sing along with the young artists. As in the past, they will return home fully satisfied by spending quality and meaningful time, expressing gratitude to sponsor patrons and MFG and praying for them.
We shall submit bills and invoices to MFG promptly after the event. If any of our patron members are around on this date, kindly request them to join to meet Ammas and to celebrate Onam with them.
The proposed budget is as below:
Ona pudava set mundu Rs 30524.00

Hope you and your family are doing good.
As you are aware Onam is coming. Thiruvonam is on 29 August 2023. We had done
“Onam Ammayodoppam “ program during last year in two places in two districts.
During Onam, It is happy for the poor aged people to have an occasion to meet
their neighbours or friends who are otherwise in aid or unable to walk around
or interact. The volunteers bring them taking personal care so that they enjoy
the company of others, some music, dance, etc. a new Onapudava and grand
Onasadya. Many of them, are not enjoying a full meal in their current state of
lives, every day.
We have been giving this from MFG in last few years except in CoVID time. We
have provided Onapudava, Onasadya and Travel expense to 50 ammas last year in
two places. We are giving this to aged men also as it doesn’t look good to
avoid very old men in a household while we give the opportunity to women.
This year we identified 60 deprived Ammas in Ottapalam for Onam Celebration
with Ammas.
The anticipated Budget for the program at Ottapalam would be:
Sadya for 75 people @ Rs. 130. : Rs. 9750/-
( 60+ 15 volunteers)
Onapudava @ Rs. 350 for 60 pax :Rs. 21000/-
Conveyance cost. : Rs. 5000/-
Total amount. : RS. 35750/-
Bills and reports along with photos will be sent to you.
Kindly inform the concurrence to enable me make necessary arrangements in
Ottapalam
I have also requested Peterji to inform his requirements of Onapudava, copy of
the
Message Shared to you for info.
