Space between words

Hi, 

When I use Transliterate in malayalam, I get the malayalam word after the space, but how do I put a space between the words? I get a [] symbol every time I type space.

Where exactly do you mean this is happening? Meaning: Are you
translating in Pootle? In Dotsub? or in another platform? And do you
have a link to it?
I am not seeing what is the "transliterate" function.
