The Promise Keeper

Between 739 and 680 B.C., the prophet Isaiah foretold that the Messiah would be born. Among the details given were these:

The Messiah would be God's son.

He would be born of a virgin in Bethlehem.

He would save the Israelites from oppressors.

He would be of the house of David.

He would be despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.

All the Israelites, who knew the prophecies of Isaiah, longed for and prayed for the Messiah to come quickly because their lives were hard.

And all these prophesies came true, each given not only to reassure us that Jesus was indeed the long-awaited Messiah, but also to assure us that our God is an upright, trustworthy God who always keeps his promises.
