I'm having some issues creating a project that targets .NET Framework 4.8. I am using Visual Studio 2019, upgraded to version 16.2.5. I have also installed the .NET Framework 4.8 Developer Pack. From the Visual Studio Installer, I don't see any option for enabling 4.8 development tools similar to 4.7.

Just thought I'll post my issues as I stumbled across this too with VS2019 Winforms project, and couldn't target anything apart from .Net 5 and Core 3.1. Turns out there're 2 types of Winforms, Winforms App and Winforms App (.Net Framework). The former won't be able to target the other .net framework. The latter is able to. Duh! Simple stuffs that aren't obvious.

In Visual Studio Installer, that can be accessed by clicking on "Tools / Get Tools and features" in the top menu, I selected the "Individual Component" tab and checked ".Net Framework 4.8 Targeting pack". That fixed it for me.

This Visual Studio thread had all the answers I was looking for. The .NET Framework 4.8 Developer Pack includes both the SDK and Targeting Pack. After installing this and restarting Visual Studio, I can now see .NET Framework 4.8 as a targeting option for Visual Studio projects. You should not need to do any Visual Studio Installer steps.

For anybody having this issue in VS 2019 Community edition. The problem in my case was confusion over which template to select. Templates for .NET Framework are in parenthesis and lower in the list (not showing at all in my case until I clicked the "clear" link next to the search box).

I wound up having to re-create my VS project. For template, I found framework 4.8 through searching templates in project creation using framework c# console search params. I then copied my files over to the new project folder, and added them as existing items through the solution tool.

I have found a solution: If I want Visual Studio Community 2019 to target .NET 4.8, I can create some simple projects by using Visual Studio Express 2013. In the Project settings I change the required .NET (up to 4.8) and save. After that, you can open that project with Visual Studio Community 2019 and you will see in the Project settings all .NET target options up to 4.8.

If you don't see the Windows Forms App (.NET Framework) template, youcan install it from the Create a new project window. In the Notfinding what you're looking for? message, choose the Install moretools and features link.

I have the same problem with Download assistant. I have .network 3.5 and 4.8 installed on a Windows 10 machine. Cannot install .net v4.0 as I have a later version installed. Why should I have to revert my .net framework version and possibly cause problems with other applications?
This problem has obviously been around for more than 2 years - what rubbish!

This will scan for damaged Windows files and replace them where possible. Let it run till the end and it will tell you if it found corrupted files and whether it was able to repair them or not.
I suggest running the sfc command twice as it sometimes finds more damage after the first pass.

I ran into some trouble while trying to install .net framework. My laptop (sony vaio vgn cr41z if it matters) running on windows 7 x64, just shuts down during the installation process. No blue screen, no error message, no logout screen, no nothing. No errors even when I reboot. I had a look into this error log:

I searched stackoverflow for similar problems, but all I found was applications developed under various versions of .net crashing with the same error code (80131506). I tried to install .net 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5. Standalone installer, web installer, even via Windows Update. The same problem...

The problem was that my computer was shutting down due to abnormal processor temperature. That's why I couldn't install .NET framework and some other programs. I solved this by going to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options -> Change plan settings (on the active power plan) -> Change advanced power settings, and setting the Maximum processor state from 100% to 75% like this:

On a fresh install of Windows 8.1, first thing I did (as I usually do) is install Intel Graphic driver but the driver, greeted me with a message that .Net framework is needed to install the driver although the system is fully updated with .Net framework 4.5, 4.6.1, 4.7.2, 4.8 & 3.5 installed. I checked twice.

The first software to be installed after Windows installation and before installing any other drivers, is the Intel Chipset Device Software. This action ensures that Windows recognizes all chipset components. You may download the Intel Chipset Device Software from the OEM site.

Thank you for the response. I have installed the chipset driver but still couldn't run the graphic driver installer, complains .Net framework is missing. Not doing anything else on the machine unless this is fixed.

The .exe packages needs fixing. They shouldn't have any dependencies like VB runtime and/or frameworks. Users usually install drivers before installing anything else and/or going online. A self extracting archive with a script to initiate the igxpin.exe with arguments should suffice and save lots of hassle.

Could you please forward my request the development team, if possible ? My next machine is going to be Intel too and I don't want to deal with the .zip files when it comes to the driver installers. I prefer. exe packages.

But it didn't happen with the driver of this model, it happened with all of the .exe's I downloaded. After speculating that issue is with the .exe archive, I downloaded other random .exe packages to check if they get unpacked or not and they returned the same error.

However, due to this product being discontinued, Intel Customer Service no longer supports inquiries or feedback for it. You may also find the Discontinued Products website, helping to address your problem.

I just bought ArcGIS Pro 3.0 Personal license to use on a Windows 11 PC. The install fails with a message that I need Windows Desktop Runtime 6.0.5 x64 or better. I installed ver 6.0.6 but still get the same error message.

There's a ".NET Runtime" and a ".NET Desktop Runtime" - please ensure you've installed the ".NET Desktop Runtime" and not the other. The .NET Desktop Runtime 6.0.6 installer can be found here: -us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-desktop-6.0.6-windows-x64-insta...

Thank you @EugenioArima That helped us today! For some reason all of our computers started crashing Pro 2.9.3 this morning upon opening the Symbology Pane - yesterday it all worked fine and there were no Windows updates showed installed last night. We checked and one computer didn't show a .NET Desktop Runtime installed at all and the other 3 showed .NET Desktop Runtime 6.0.9 x86 installed. Once all of us uninstalled .NET Desktop Runtime x86 and installed x64 we were able to upgrade to Pro 3.0.1 and everything works again. No idea what ran last night to cause ArcGIS Pro to stop working this morning. Also why is Windows automatically installing the wrong x86 instead of x64? Mysteries. @CraigWilliams maybe this will help other people.

ArcGIS (seemingly out of the blue) began crashing whenever the symbology pane was opened. I tried to repair the program, tried it under the admin profile, then decided the ol "uninstall and reinstall would work."

Now I have downloaded and reinstalled/"repaired" complete ArcGis Pro, which was finalized without any complaints. Starting the Programm ist still refused pointing to a missing .NET Desktop - which IS available and installed.

I can't seem to reinstall Teamviewer after previously uninstalling it. The error says: "Rollback framework could not be initialized. Installation aborted!" I tried updating the .NET framework, and running the installer as administrator, but neither of those worked and there aren't any solutions online. I also tried deleting the folder: "C:\Users\**yourusernamehere**\AppData\Local\Temp\TeamViewer" to no avail. It deleted, but TeamViewer still won't install. If you have any ideas, let me know? Thanks.

Running the installer when logged in with the Administrator accout on my PC worked. Using right-click Run as Administrator when logged in as a non-Admin user always failed with the rollback framework error.

I bought Sound Forge 10 many years ago and used it on my previous computer as recently as about a month ago. I recently got a new computer with Windows 11 and can't install SF10 on it. I get passed all of the questions (I think) and then I get a message that says "Download failed. Please make sure you are connected to the Internet and try again.". I am clearly connected to the internet. I have my antivirus, firewall, vpn and adblocker all turned off.

If temporarily disabling anti-virus apps does not work with Magix, you could try downloading SF-10 from the SCS (Sony) archive which has all the SCS SF versions, builds, ect..
I think the final version of SF Pro 10 (d) was build 507. If you need the iZotope's Direct X Mastering Suite II installer which was included with SFP-10, PM me. You will still need iZ's unique activation code though. The NR-2.0 noise reduction suite that as also incldued is in the archive as well if it is not installed it by default w/ SFP-10. You can also of the get a discount with your SF-10 serial if wish to upgrade to SF-15.
