Iran began three days of air force exercises in the Gulf and the Sea of Oman to raise operational and support capability. The Guardian Council announced possible polling irregularities in 50 districts. The Revolutionary Guards warned citizens of "revolutionary confrontation" if they return to the streets to protest. Supreme Leader Khamenei addressed an audience at Tehran University during Friday prayers praising the reelection of President Ahmadinejad as "epic moment that became a historic moment," and stated that the Islamic Republic "would not betray the vote of the people." Britain, France, Germany, the United States, Russia and China agreed to push ahead with sanctions if the IAEA report on November 19 shows Iran has not addressed concerns over its nuclear program. British SAS commandos, along with US and Australian special forces, entered Iran and attacked the Iranian Revolutionary Guard - Qods Force and Shia militias smuggling weapons and fighters into Iraq. The US military will build a base on the border in Iraq to stop Iranian weapons from reaching Shia extremists. An Iranian military helicopter went down near Piranshahr, a town around 6 miles from the Iraqi border. Six soldiers were killed. The military said it was due to mechanical failure, but the Mehr news agency said the Kurdish rebel group Pejak shot down the helo while fighting the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps.

Iran continues to ship weapons to both Iraq and Afghan insurgent groups. The Fajr-3, a 240mm rocket with a 30 mile range, has been fired at US forces int he Green Zone three times, and two arms shipments, which "included 107mm mortars, rocket-propelled grenades, C-4 explosives and small arms," have been intercepted in Helmand province.

Britain has released evidence its sailors and marines were 1.7 nautical miles inside Iraqi waters when the IRGC naval force intercepted and captured them. The UNSC has placed sanctions on Iran, ordering "all countries to stop supplying Iran with materials and technology that could contribute to its nuclear and missile programs," as well as freezing assets. President Ahmadinejad says Israel, US, Britain will vanish: "this is a divine promise." PM Blair calls for an "alliance of moderation" with Moderate Muslim states counter Iran. Israel says Iran is trainings dozens, if not hundreds of Hamas operatives inside Iran. Ahmadinejad's allies took a beating in the latest round of elections.

The US may deploy a second aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf to pressure Iran. The US wants the UNSC to pass a resolution on Iran's nuclear program within days. President Ahmadinejad may have suffered a defeat in the elections for local councils and for the Assembly of Experts.

An updated draft of proposed UN Security Council sanctions on Iran ease restrictions on sale and purchase of some goods. Iran announced that it may file suit in the International Court of Justice for denial of nuclear rights. Germany spoke out against the Holocaust conference in Iran scheduled for Sunday and Monday.

Russia is shipping the Tor-M1 air-defence missile systems to Iran. Iran and Syria are rearming Hezbollah. Iran is shipping weapons to Hezbollah through Syia.

The “Martyrs Battalions” have threatened to attack Gulf states if the U.S. strikes Iran. Mesbah-Yazdi, who backs suicide bombings, seeks to become Iran's next supreme spiritual leader. The commander of the IRGC stated that Iran has “planned our strategy precisely on the basis of [American's] strengths and weaknesses.”

The IAEA has found plutonium and enriched uranium in a facility. President Ahmadinejad said “the international community was caving in to Teheran's demands to continue its nuclear program.” Iran and Hezbollah are providing weapons and training to Somalia's Islamic Courts, an al Qaeda affiliate, as well as cooperating with al Qaeda and senior leader Saif al-Adel (see Nov. 14 update.)

Iran claims to have taken images of U.S. aircraft carriers operating in the Gulf wth UAVs. Iran claims it will swiftly respond to any Israeli strike on its expanding nuclear program. President Ahmadinejad tears into the the UNSC for considering sanctions.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei says U.S. midterm elections are “in fact a landmark victory of the Iranian nation.” Israel indicates it may strike Iran's nuclear weapons program. Iran has bought SCUD missiles from North Korea and now “is able to provide its missile system to friendly nations that need it”.

U.S. soldiers intercept donkeys from Iran carrying 53 anti-tank landmines and one anti-tank projectile. Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps fired three new sea-strike missiles with a range of 106 miles in the Persian Gulf. Russia rejected UNSC draft sanctions aimed at punishing Iran for continuing nuclear enrichment.

Iran will conduct a large scale naval wargame this week in the Persian Gulf, just as U.S. carriers are surging into the region. The U.S. accuses Iran and Syria of trying to topple the Lebanese government. Russia will not back the current UNSC draft to curb Iran's nuclear enrichment program. Russia will move forward with its sale of air defense missiles to Iran.

Iran and Hezbollah have been directly implicated in the 1994 bombing of the Argentine Jewish Mutual Association in Buenos Aires. "We deem it proven that the decision to carry out an attack... was made by the highest authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran which directed Hezbollah to carry out the attack." Argentine prosecutors have called for the arrest of Hezbollah chief Imad Mugniyah and former Iranian President Hashemi Rafsanjani.

The US House approved sanctions on Iran's oil industry, and the Senate is expected to follow. The US says time is running out talks between Iran and the European Union.

European nations warn Iran is stalling on nuclear negotiations. Iranian authorities censor sections of Grand Ayatollah Yousefi Sanei's website which promote women's civil rights. The Iranian military roles out a remodeled F-5 fighter and touts it as a newly built Iranian aircraft. Former Iranian President Mohammed Khatami spoke at the Washington National Cathedral.

The International Atomic Energy Agency has "found new traces of enriched uranium in Iran." Iran refuses to give up its nuclear program. The U.S. State Department has approved a visa for former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami to visit the country. Khatami was sponsored by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
