Thanks again for your patience with multiple emails. Just wanted to
send out a reminder that our in-progress showing of "Eagle Woman
Poems" will be at The VORTEX tomorrow! One night only!
It's tricky to get folks out on a Wednesday night; we need you!
Besides, I'm betting that you'll find the show your antidote to
hump-day blues :) Things are really starting to come together; this
is like no other solo performance I've done before. The designs are
all amazing. I can't wait to share, and to get feedback from
everyone!
Hope to see you tomorrow night!

Eagle
Woman Poems navigates the tensions and contradictions that arise for a
young, queer, mixed-race Chicana, as she struggles to achieve
independence from oppressive legacies of the past and interdependence in
every sense - socially, economically, environmentally, politically,
and personally. Executed in a surreal domestic landscape, the
anthropomorphic character of Eagle Woman straddles the space between
reality and myth, attempting rote domestic tasks while communing with
ancient goddesses.

The Generic Ensemble Company (GenEnCo)
makes the invisible visible through bold, socially relevant,
body-centered theatre. GenEnCo is a team of artists that devises and
produces innovative adaptations and new work. GenEnCo views marginal
bodies, experiences, and subject positions as central to the form and
content of creating work. As such, they strive to promote, foster, and
engage performance, writing, and ideas of/with people of color, queers,
gender queers, women, working class people, immigrants, and youth.

Use of The VORTEX is made

This project is funded and
supported in part by the City of Austin through the Cultural Arts
Division.
