Hi Guys,

Since Makibox forum is now gone, please let me ask a question here.
I've been observing last couple of weeks that Z-axis (the bed) is not
descending evenly, causing squashed layer and sparse layer.
This doesn't happen all the time, and is happening on random layers.
What could be a cause of this problem?
While investigating this I noticed that the controller chip (the main
chip and four chips sitting near x/y/z/e pin) are hot, above 60
degrees Celsius. Would placing a small heatsink on them may help?

Well, NO Makible product roadmap, NO large-scale business campaign, NO
key operational performance disruption recovery, nore EBITDA
deterioration analisys, or inefficient use of Capex reversed...

Just a bitter taste for the ones that hope to get the "World's
Cheapest 3D Printer" or "Meet the Most Affordable 3D Printer Yet": the
credule MakiBox sponsors and the rest of sinners that dare to believe
in a promising project managed by someone who didn't "open" enough,
and doesn't believe enough in his dreams.

A SAD story, with a good lesson: the high expectations can be easily
exploited by charlatans.

Why trust a company who didn't explain to their sponsors the product
life-cycle, including the supply chain delivery strategy?
If John is a fair & honest person, he can return to liberate and set
up free, the entire MakiBox project experience. Even the "what was
wrong, lesson learned".

Until then, for a limited time, you can download the entire forum from
below link:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/qeivfaplpeet7bz/makibox_forum.7z?dl=0

I'm looking forward for the solutions to ameliorate the concept bugs
and increase the mechanical precision.

I will keep the MakiBox just to learn and experience more.

Regards,

Which board is this? D8 or Printrboard?

It was the D8 board that which suffered this problem.
I was able to solve this by reducing heat on stepper motor by M906 command.
That worked like charm for a while, like two weeks.

BUT (sob)

A day before yesterday I smelled something very bad bad from the
board, and figured that D1 component 'burned' with some smoke. Maybe
my soldering wasn't just right.

At this moment there is no way to buy a new one, am I right? Or does
Nils have some of them in stock?
