I struggled with my hotend for a while, continuous failed prints, even with the Frozen Extruder and my last attempt seems to have given it a boost of life before replacing it with an J-Head which I bought to replace.

Basically it's two heatsinks destined for some A4988 stepper drivers for my CNC shield, joined together and a hole drilled through the middle of the two when joined together.

I applied high-temp thermal grease on the nut only to dissipate the heat into the heatsinks rather than up the barrel.

No fan just yet, I have printed a little attachment for a tiny motor for one of those tiny RC copters, but seems to be running ok like this for now with ABS.

A quick cheap hack for a printer that has been nothing but painful to get running reliably.

for me heat-sink was not enough,
I added a small motor from a rc helicopter to get it under 60 °C,
90 °C was the temp without the "fan" (not enough to run mor than few minutes before jamming).
