Hot Ends problem solving questions

Hi guys and girls (less of those, I presume.),

As I cannot find anything useful on the forum, I would like to ask here: does anyone know what the best way to proceed would be to get a new hot end to work on the D8 version of the makibox.

I just received my new one (meal-hot end), which hopefully works, in contrast to the stock piece of c which has never worked in the first place.I choose this one:

After installing and soldering the contacts, it turns out the thermistor (new one, NTC EPCOS B57560G104F 100k)  is not picking up a signal as it stays at -40.

Would somebody know a good place where to start when I would like to modify the firmware to accept this thermistor and this heater element? Is my way forward even possbile? I'm a non-programmer, so it would have to be quite fool proof!
