I was a little bemused by this. I am one of the lucky ones, I received my makibox (still owed a ramen though) so probably one of the lucky few.
By what agency did this firm gain the right to seize these goods to onsell ? I don't know HK law, but most states have creditor protection under insolvency laws. Secured creditors first, then unsecured creditors divvy up the rest.
These boxes were built to order, each one would be traceable to a particular purchaser. Surely these owners would have a stronger claim to those boxes than the storage company?
If MakiBox went bankrupt, then the
receiver would have frozen the assets to  dispose of and repay all creditors. If MakiBox didn't go bankrupt then they still own the boxes. Either way I know if I had walked in and just taken a box that I thought I owned, I would be guilty of theft.
If I then transported these stolen goods around the world to sell I am sure I would have broken a few more laws.
So if this is not the case, and the seizure of the goods is legal, then good luck to them, but as one unsecured creditor among many I would have appreciated some contact from the agency that permitted this transaction so I could at least have some discussion on the disposition of the goods.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has a clearer idea of the legal status of this action.
Cheers
Nigel

My understanding is that the T&C for the service handling the fulfillment allows for them to claim goods in their possession if not paid for 90 days. At this point, having at least some change will help things move along within Makible, and at least this one creditor (who is also a small startup out of Hong Kong) possibly can recoup what they have put into the project.

I certainly hope you take this "change" and use it very wisely (meaning not anything remotely like the company's used its money in the past), because this extra money does come at the price of terrible PR (which I don't know if you can get any worse than things have been).

There is no cash going into Makible. It is only relieving what was owed to the fulfillment company, and based on their T&C, the goods were no longer Makible's at this time either way.

Ahh I see, bad interpretation on my part, oh well, seems it's just terrible PR then.

If by now - you still believe in a Refund or your printer delivered - you are pretty naive.

There won't be money or a printer. Makible is broke

I'm curious to know how many more creditors there are. Lots of
motor/electronics suppliers who haven't been paid? Manufacturing firms
for the injection-moulded ABS? Or did they all demand payment
up-front?

Not that many, most items were purchased up front.

I would like to say more, but at the moment things are in flux and I can not comment on most of this.
