You seem to be assuming that there was some sort of malicious intent to defraud people? As near as I can tell, that was never the case. Mismanaged and overextended? Yes. That's all part of the learning experience for new entrepreneurs unfortunately. Most new companies fail.
For myself, the money put into Makibox was expendable. The product was obviously in development and everything had a chance of going sideways. I wish it hadn't but my feel was that Jonathan and co. were sweating bullets behind scenes to make a go of it. I wish it had come together, but it didn't.
My hope is that they take this to their next company and become successful.

There is no Wikipedia article about Makibox, Makible, or Jonathan Buford's role in the ordeal. If you want to do some good, your best bet is to make sure that this is not forgotten, so when they surface again to take more people's money, there is information for people to make their decision based off of.--

Yes, it sucks that is basically what happened to us. I'm not part of Makibox aside from having tried to buy a printer just like you.
Companies fail. It sucks. On the other hand, most successful entrepreneurs are serial entrepreneurs and have several failed companies in their past. Its part of how they get to where they strive to be.
I'm a realist. There is no money or printers left to pass onto us. The company that is selling those built printers was left with unpaid bills from Makibox just like us. They just happened to have a way to recoup some of their loss.
