Guys, got in over my head and don't have the time to put this CNC machine together and get started. I picked it up from KickStarted 2 years ago and it hasn't left the box since it arrived.

The box was opened, but nothing was ever assembled, which means nothing is broken.  Here is what I am selling.

Product: Desktop CNC Mill Kit - Shapeoko 2 - 30206-03
http://www.inventables.com/technologies/desktop-cnc-mill-kit-shapeoko-2
Description: Full kit - 220V, includes electronics and tool set
Unit price: $685.00
Quantity: 1

Product: End Mill Starter Set, 1/8 in Shank - 30264-01
http://www.inventables.com/technologies/end-mill-starter-set-18-in-shank
Description: End Mills: 5
Unit price: $19.95
Quantity: 1

I am into in it $700 but if I can find the right person, I would be willing to sell i for $600.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Jason. Dood. Jason. Don’t let the dream die. Rage, RAGE against the dieing of the light!

I’ve built and calibrated the shapeoko 1, 2, and xcarve. I don’t know you (and i recognize we’re all a little socially awkward) but I will help you. And others will too, right gang!

Regardless of what you do with it after, lets build it. We’ve all been through the slump and got our hopes crushed. Lets all build it together!!!

Makers unite!

Where would I even start? Im not savvy when it comes to electronic assembly nor do I have any idea how to create the art work used carve into the wood. Id love to learn, I really would but not sure how to get started.

I wasn’t either. I was literally terrified. i got a 3d printer (all laser cut with a  million pieces) and a shapeoko at the same time. and i let them sit around for a year. Finally, i just had to commit to trying, even if i failed.

Luckily, the documentation was good enough the my leap of faith resulted in getting to see jesus. (jesus in this case is a working shapeoko).  This had a profound positive impact on my life - and i didnt mill ANYTHING for another year (still scared). i drew a few times though, and felt enormous pride. it’s alive!!! I shouted, with my wife only slightly amused. i built other stuff. i connected things to motors. it was great. i wasn’t afraiad of building random things anymore. i had only one fear - actually running the machine. it was totally not reasonable. If Bill hadn’t offered that class on making a coaster - you cut a circle with some text int it. ITS AMAZING!!!! - i might not have cut anything. i cut stuff and ahve learned to control it via code. dude. doooood. you gotta build it. it might change your life.

I owe Bill a pay it forward for teachign me to use the shapeoko to cut stuff. Why don’t we do this. A group build of your machine over a couple weekends (2-3 hours for 2-3 days). then a group class on how to make a coaster overa  couple of weeks. only people who help build for at least an hour get to be in the class. i’ll provide some food. it’ll be fun.

Take a quick look at the docs : http://docs.shapeoko.com/index.html
and imagine how easy it could be…
each menu item on the left is a discreet task, with a kinda of test at the bottom. at the end of the electronics page (menu item 1) you run a  little test to see if the motors move. OMG they’re moving!!!!! I’m gonna do menu item two - Wheels. omg they …. move… well that was too easy. lets do….. Menu item 3! oh crap... carriages. Well i did that electronics thing so i guess i’ll try…. omg it slides on the metal rail thing!!!!! i’m almost half way done!!! (you wont be, but thats ok, sometimes it’s good to be misled).

if you aren’t ready in your soul jelly, cool man, no bigs. just make sure to not beat yourself over it. but if you are, and you think you will be some day. keep it around. put it on a shelf in the living room so it taunts you every day.

I recommend joining both website forums of Inventables and ShapeOko and the Google Plus ShapeOko group. Lots of other people will help you if needed. (Me included)

Jason,
I agree with Jesse here.  If you don't make the attempt you will regret it.  I knew nothing about building my 3d printer when I started.  I learned a couple new skills in the process.  I seem to get started on stuff and reach a plateau at a point in the process.  I let it stand there because I stress over the next step.  100% of the time I have found that I am 99% done with the project and that 1% was ultimately the simple part.  If you don't know something ASK.  I think we've proved we're willing to help.  Bill Swinyard is an invaluable resource.  Read the instructions and start with Step 1.  Take your time.  I don't believe that there's anything that you can break that can't be purchased as parts or recreated.

Jason,

When would/could you met to have others HELP you build and set it up?

Hey David, here is my concerns with this.  I would love to build this project and learn how to get it up and running but I dont know how to do it. I spend nearly 8 hours a week at the doctors office with my 8 year old son who has a terminal disease and in addition, I am trying to build a new company that is taking more time than I anticipated. I don't mean to be a whiner but I don't know how to fit this is right now.

Jason ... good to see you here!  :-)

So ... we could make a deal and I can work on it for/with you, and we can put it in my barn here in Charleston so that we both have access ... and we start the "Heber Make Space" :-)

Let's talk ... I think we could work something out!
