Important Followup and Foundational Meeting Notice

I am cross posting this, then I would like to move it to the forum please.

First of all. What a fantastic meet we had yesterday!  Thank you all for participating. Thank you for the muffins, Carl. Thank you for the Burgers, Eric. Thank you to anyone who I am forgetting. 

Now I need to make the long announcement:

I had a chance to talk with many of you one-on-one and in small groups in between all our visitors. From all our discussions it seems pretty obvious that it is time to start making a governance structure and get our ducks in a row so we can make decisions: either use the LH space or find another,  find sponsorships and donations, split up the work, etc, etc. 

So, I want to request a core membership meeting.

I propose that this is a foundational meeting, if you wish to be a part of the officership, this is the meeting to get officiously involved. I feel that everyone should be invited, so that everyone has a chance to become part of the process since we are still beginning. From point of view there will  still be plenty of opportunity for people to join as members and participants, but this is the meeting to set up the governance. 

Secondly, I propose that we move toward a more efficient and standardized process of meeting so we can get s***(stuff) done. I heard similar sentiments from many of you, yesterday. I would like to start using agendas so that we can focus and make clear decisions. I am going to post my ideas for agenda items for this meeting at the bottom and I will start a forum post with the agenda  so that you can add items too.

Time and date: 
Tuesday seems to be a Hacker space traditional meeting night. I was talking it over with several of you and from the feedback I would like to shoot for 7PM, Tuesday February 14, 2012. I know that this date is "that" holiday and you may have responsibilities to a partner or spouse, so please respond as soon as possible with confirmation or an alternate suggestion.

Place:

We can do it at the Long Hollow Building, or we can storm the Ozone. What do we want? They are about .5 mile apart.  One has waiter service, the other we can order in if necessary.

I know this a good bit to chew on; I appreciate everyone's attention.

1. Bylaws and Governance model
1. what kind of decision making process do we want to use? 
• I have some practical XP in this area and I can post some research material on the forum. So I will make a thread before the meeting to share-thomas

1. Officerships
1. what officers do we need? Some people have found a niche already and it will be easy. 
2. who can fulfill the role

1. formation of some steering committees to report back to the group as a whole(this might be a little redundant with the previous item but I think it is a hair we need to split) 
1. building committee-look into issues on repairing the building at LHNA or other site
2. incorporation, finances, and insurance-what financial model do we want to use
3. web/communications committee- I bet I know who is on this ;)
