One of the possible outcomes of this discussion is that Buffalo doesn't need to build a Worldclass MakerSpace, because it already
is a Worldclass MakerSpace. (whoa, thanks to Kevin Hayes for that mind blowing idea)
If that's the case, maybe we just need to know what that network is and have some kind of citywide MakerSpace Buffalo Multi-Pass!
Setting aside that interesting possible outcome for now, we should understand what's in place, in the planning stage and ultimately what's missing, if anything.
Places that support making things and are open to the public in Buffalo:
Buffalo Lab - a nascent hackerspace that could grow into a larger makerspace give more floor space and equipment - has a mini 3D printer, a mini cnc and hand tools
The Foundry - an incubator for urban manufacturing businesses combined with a community center - has a wood shop and a metal shop, houses Buffalo Lab
MakerFaire Buffalo - Run annually by Buffalo Museum of Science, a show and tell about what's going on with local Makers
There's got to be a lot more than this. Do you know of organizations that are supporting making or plan to do so?
