Got it together plugged it in and nothing happened!  no fans, no heat, no bells, no lights nothing!  The power supply voltages checked out - any suggestions on trouble shooting this?

Do you have the USB cable plugged in?  RAMBo ships configured for USB power chosen for logic.

Are any of your endstops pressed, and more importantly, plugged in backwards?

I'm assuming that you're using Windows - did you check System Manager
for a port assignment?

If the controller board isn't getting a virtual COM port assigned,
nothing is going to happen. Did you get that far?

Unplug your endstops and try again.

Why would this slow down his computer?

I'm guessing that he doesn't have the drivers installed - each time he
plugs in the USB cable, his computer probably starts grinding away,
trying to find a driver and not finding one. But that's a guess,
really.

Just to be more explicit, did you do the following steps?

1. Install the Arduino IDE (and set the board type to Arduino 2560 -
can't remember the exact board name - it's the only one with 2560) -
not sure that you really have to do this, but it can't hurt for
later...
2. Connect printer and computer via USB,
3. Look for a new device in System Manager (assuming Windows here),
4. Install driver (find the right driver in the drivers subdirectory
of wherever you installed the Arduino IDE - I'm pretty sure that I had
Windows find the right one, but "Arduino MEGA 2560.inf" should work, I
believe),
5. Go back to System Manager and see if there's a new COM port - if
not, the driver didn't install, go back, correct. If so, note the COM
port #,
6. Install Pronterface/Slic3r,
7. Set the COM port in Pronterface to the one that you found
8. Try one of the jog dials to see if you can control the printer (use
a 1mm dial at first, in case something's funky)

It'd be helpful to know how far you got in the above list. I hope that
it's accurate, going off memory here.

I had the same thing happen, and I nearly had a kitten. Change the
jumper and it'll all be good.

Had someone elese look too!  found out the y Limit switch was an issue (Hunt unplug limit switches to see if board lights up), we also switched the jumper to power off the powersupply (just to check if I was having USB issues, switch it back afterwards).  Got every thing talking now thanks a lot!!!

Got it leveled too

 real close to first print!

Thanks Every One!!!
