Bill - you need to install the arduino IDE and then upload the firmware to your mega 2560.

I did again just five minutes ago.

When I go to sketch, add file and click on configuration.h then I hit
the upload button and I get compile errors
" core.a(main.cpp.o): In function 'main':
C:\Makergear\arduino-0022\hardware\arduino\cores\arduino/main
.cpp:7: undefined reference to 'setup'
C:\Makergear\arduino-0022\hardware\arduino\cores\arduino/main
.cpp:10:undefined reference to 'loop' "

You make the changes in configuration.h, and select the *.pde file to upload to the board in the Arduino IDE.

Also make sure you have the right board selected.
Tools->Board-> Arduino Mega 2560
