Hello!
The Kentucky Science Center is hosting a Girls STEM Collaborative Forum on Thursday, February 20th, 2014from 4-6pm with help from Girls RISEnet. Please join us as we explore: “Collaborations - Fulfilling the Needs of Our Diverse Community”. Collaborations are wonderful ways to improve the quality and value of a program. Institutions, corporations, community groups can all work together to offer the best possible programs to fill the needs of our diverse community.
On February 20th, the workshop participants will:
· Discuss partnerships they've been involved in, trouble shoot issues and share successes: We invite everyone that attends the opportunity to share a collaboration story with the group. If you’d like to do so please make note of that on your registration form.
· Meet other representatives from institutions throughout Kentucky and Indiana.
· Share ideas and program topics that have been successful in your collaboration programming.
· Create action plans for designing culturally competent STEM experiences for your community.
The Kentucky Science Center is part of the Girls RISEnet National Museum Network (www.girlsrisenet.org), an NSF-funded project that aims to strengthen the professional capacity of informal science educators to engage and motivate minority girls in grades 6-12 to explore and pursue science and engineering careers. We will be using these materials to support the forum. The Girls RISEnet project provides travel awards on a reimbursement basis, that you could use to cover travel to the workshop!
In order to register for the workshop please:
1. Complete the registration form that is the second page of the attached flyer and email it back to me byFebruary 18th, 2014.
2. And go to http://www.girlsrisenet.org/calendar/list. Click "Collaborations - Fulfilling the Needs of our Diverse Community” from the calendar listing to complete your registration. (Logging in to this site will allow you to later fill out an evaluation, crucial to the future development of these forums.)
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
We hope to see you there!
