Hi, i've my replicator 2x since 2 weeks and no problem at all in 30h+ of prints.
I came from a ToM and on it i've installed sailfish a long time ago.

But now, on my rep 2x, worth installing sailfish firmware? it improve the complessive reliability of the machine?

Thanks!

Yes and yes... OEM still has bugs Sailfish has fixed. Sailfish still provides features OEM ain't got.

In general, it's ahead of the curve on bug fixes relative to MBI's firmware.
So theory says it's ahead on reliability as a result. However, you may never
see any of those bugs.

Tried Sailfish. Went back to Makerware.
May try Sailfish again.
Makerware felt as if it functioned better.
Can't hurt to try both, pretty simple to return to Makerware.

Makerware is not a firmware it's a slicer which can be used with either the Makerbot firmware or Sailfish.
IMO Sailfish is miles ahead of Makerbot firmware and the support is second to none, Dan  is super quick at updating and fixing any issues that arise.

You do not have to use "ReplictorG 0040r22-Sailfish" in order to use the Sailfish firmware on the printer.  MakerWare will output .x3g that will work on printers with Sailfish installed.  The only time when you have to use the ReplicatorG software is if you are using the utilities to modify the EEPROM parameters stored on the machine, because there are some differences in how parameters are stored with the stock firmware versus the Sailfish firmware.

Sailfish gives you a number of useful features that are missing in the MBI firmware, and removes behavior that are less useful for the experienced users (like the leveling script that lets you move the carriage yourself, instead of having to follow the script).

FWIW, I was using MakerWare quite a bit with Sailfish until I recently started putting in more time on KISSlicer Pro.

That's somewhat nonsensical: Sailfish is firmware for the bot, MakerWare is
a slicer. While I know that you, Evil Wizard Glick, know that, others
reading this may not.

So, just to be clear Sailfish is a firmware you run in the bot. It is an alternative
to MBI's stock firmware which ships with a Makerbot from MBI. (And MBI's core printing
engin inside their firmware is based upon Sailfish which, in turn, is a port
of Marlin.)

MakerWare is a slicer and works with MBI's firmware as well as the Sailfish firmware.
Additionally, Sailfish works with the slicers RepG/Skeinforge, Cura, slic3r,
KISSlicer, and Simplify3D. MBI's firmware may or may not: depends upon issues
such as use of G92 and other commands by those slicers.

MBI actually supports bots running Sailfish and they host the main install and setup
guides for Sailfish,

http://makerbot.com/sailfish/

The differences between Sailfish and MBI's firmware are listed at
