I'm working on a BoM so I can build up another extruder controller
next week, and there's a reference in the parts list to a BSS84 ..
this could be any number of FET packages, but the real problem is I
don't even see it on the schematic or a place for it on the pcb!

Anyone know what the deal is?

Which schematic for which extruder controller?

3.6, and using the schematic on the wiki page ...

actually this is OBE as the cost was going to be about the same as
getting one from Denmark .. so I decided to be lazy and just ordered
one built ;)

It's the little three-terminal "T1" transistor between IC7 and L1, next to the FT232RL on the LHS of the board:

ah yes, I see it now ;)

well, I've got a complete DigiKey BoM for the board if anyone wants it
.. I've substituted a slightly larger pin-compatible MOSFET due to the
fact that the original one is discontinued

If you ordered it on eBay from that guy in Denmark the electronics I ordered from him were not the equivalent of makerbots.  They seam to be etched by him, components are rearrange, some are missing all together.  I can post actual comparison photos if you'd like

he seems to have nothing but good feedback ...

I went ahead and bought the parts after all ;) $60 shipped + $8
shipped for the board isn't bad for single-piece pricing ... thats
with an Atmega328 and upgraded MOSFETS
I hope my paste isn't too old ...
