We have a shared office Makerbot.

I power it down using the menu at the end of the day.

Whenever I power it back up and start up the Makerbot Desktop, I have to connect and then press the button on the Makerbot to authenticate the connection.

Because the printer is not at my desk, I have to walk all the way to Makerbot to do it.

Is this annoying to other people?

Do people leave their Makerbot on all the time and not power it down at all?

You should be able to connect to the machine once and authenticate that device. On my mini, once a device was authenticated, restarting either the printer or the computer did not require re-authentication. Now, sometimes it wouldn't connect, I had to stop, restart the service, and then it would see and connect. And yes, it came to that screen saying to press the button but DID NOT require pressing the button, it then switched to authenticated.

This could be a problem with specific langauage packs of the computer operating system or your specific computer settings.
I do know this, the Printer is not causing the issue- this is software and your computer.

Also, I was using more than one computer and a mobile phone.
So, in theory, you can connect with multiple devices and not require re-authentication.

That said, you might have a situation where one user was connected, then you want to connect from a different machine. That may be what is causing the issue.

In other words, are you trying to knock another user off (maybe unknowingly) that is currently connected?
In that specific case, I think then it did try to ask for manual authentication.
