Looks like the classic X axis stepper motor cable going bad. There's been
a number of Rep 2's which have had strain damage the X axis stepper motor
cable.

Contact MBI support. Their phone number is on the business card supplied
with your printer for levelling.

Yep, that's the X axis ribbon cable failure.  Call MBI and order a replacement.  In the short term, you can keep going by splicing the broken wires together.  Search these forums for all sorts of discussions about this.

Sweetpickled....

....I assume you've cycled the power?
....I assume you went to Home Axis on the menu?

Sometimes the head can get moved while powered up. The bot thinks it's "here" but it's actually "over there" and it has a shniz fit when it tries to move. This morning I came in, powered the bot up, and about 11am went to print "Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmm" buzz buzz buz....<<<VIBRATE>>>....Looks like classic X cable but it's not...jogged it home...cycled power...started up and printed fine. Found out later one of the salesman was moving the head to see it better <grrrrr>....

So after help from the MakerBot Team it turns out that our XYZ motor wire harness needs replacing! Thanks for all of your help!

First of all when the motor moves toward home axis it makes a horrible sound. When printing the motor makes a terrible rattling sound once it gets going. Also, when printing the layers are coming out all kindsa crazy. The first layer doesn't lay down correctly. And, the second layer doesn't even lay on top of the first layer, but instead moves to the right. Needless to say...we need help! Forgive me for my poor terminology!

Things that we have done:
re-aligned the gantry
lubricated

Thanks!
